A Jackal is a JTM 18 with a loop. Basically the same amp as your Rocket Queen except that I think Wormburner requested that Randy design your amp with a little less gain than standard.

Actually, the gain is at the standard level for Randy's JTM circuit. I did ask Randy to have the master volume taper more slowly from 0 to 9 o'clock because there had been previous complaints that the Master on the JTM would go abruptly from off, to loud as crap.

Also Suds, there's a magic weapon in that JTM circuit. If you take the mids to 3 o'clock, you can actually dial in more gain/more focused gain.

Thanks for straightening that out, I knew that you had requested something a little different, it must have been someone else that requested the lower gain mod.

Hey you Phaezer brothers out there!

Health issues, health concerns, and one heck of a scare a couple of months ago has put a whole new perspective on "stuff". Stuff as in gear. I realized that I can't take it all with me so I made the decision to sell most of my "stuff". If any of you are interested in either of my remaining amps, shoot me an email at iamjoe68@me.com for details. These all include tubes and headshells. The guitar in the picture has been sold, so please don't ask.

In the end, I will have one guitar, one chord, one amp and a slide. These will not be listed in the classifieds as I am not in the mood for low ballers.

Thanks guys, I learned a shit load from all of you. A very special thanks to Roscoe for getting me to think out of the box.

What would be the optimal gauge to use when wiring a speaker cabinet?

I.C.

Depends on the impedance and wattage of the speakers. 18 gauge can be used for most stuff, but 16 is sometimes better (can handle 10A vs. 7A, if I recall correctly).

So Randy wrote me back his recommendation for my Phaez. He suggested a new 18W version that hasn't been released yet. He said it is a simplified mix of the JTM and Sibly, no effects loop. I've never used an effects loop before so not sure if I need one. I do have a lot of effects but just plug them straight into the amp. What do you guys think?

If you like to overdrive your amp and use delay, reverb then an effect loop is a must. If not, its not needed.

What are your thoughts on 14 gauge?Sorry I have no experience wiring cabs, and would hate to use something foolish!

Dropped a set of Lollar P90s into a Hamer Special last night and hit the HRM Daze with it for a few hours after . . . HOLY SHIITE that is some serious tone right there. I could have played for several more hours if I didn't have to go to sleep, the tone still haunts me as I sit typing this. I know what I'm doing after work today.

rock on.

I always use 16 guage, 14 might be a bit of overkill but should work. Also, you can buy good quality insulated speaker wire off the roll at most hardware stores for like $0.80 a foot, much more cost effective than buying prepackaged stuff. :thumb:

Just scored a UK made V30 off of Ebay for less than the Hellatone 60. Can't wait to pair it with my Weber Legacy G12H clone and my AFD 18! I have read a lot of good things about this speaker combination and have liked the clips I have heard, can't wait to give it a go.

Is that the Hamer that you brought to jam with me and Rosco last year?

That is a special sounding guitar and amp man!

This one's a pretty straightforward USA Hamer Special in TV Yellow.

Not my guitar, but just like it.

And yes, the blue Blitz just kills through this amp as well, as do most guitars for that matter.:hmm:

I hate loops, but that's just me. If for some reason you needed a loop later on in life there's always the badcat unleash.. It does alot more then just that but it's a thought

I have a similar combo with the Hellaton 30 (G12H30 clone) and a UK made V30. It's doesn't matter if I run my JTM or Corona through it they sound wonderful together.

Try a compressor pedal with your Phaez amps, you won't regret it.
Had thought about getting a boost pedal, but a few days ago, I decided to yank a compressor out of my pedal box. The sustain is now better than ever, the slides are loud and clear and the pinch harmonics are really easy to get, even on the G string.

I don't like Phaez amp...oh no.
I love them...oh yeah.
