I'm still GASing for an AFD one day...something high gain.

The AFD is a sweet amp, but for pure high gain I would go DC or Ashville. For heavy classic rock and 80's stuff the AFD is the ticket, but it's no chugging amp, it's very warm and harmonically rich. :slash:

Coldengray is a Phaez brother in good standing, who can fault him for snatching up a deal on a sweet Metro? :thumb: I would love to hear that Metro in a stereo rig with his JTM 18! :wow:

Oops! I have a Phaez too! It looks like this...just a smaller version of what I'm planning with the Metro. It will still peel paint though:

Ok... Free pass then :laugh2:
I bet that Metro is pretty bad ass though. I'd love to wail some slide through that one!

Totally off-topic, but I gotta think anything rock n' roll, classic and new is on the mark with we Phaez-heads here . . .

'Scuse my ignorance or lateness to the party, but I assume everyone has caught wind of The Winery Dogs with Billy Sheehan, Richie Kotzen and Mike Portnoy?

My guitar tech turned me on to them today via youtube when I brought my Sig T in for TLC, and all I can say is a huge WOW!! Based on the three vids out there, what a freaking unit! Classic rock all the way, a bit o' modern thrown in, melodic, lotsa musical depth in the bridges and setups. Killer stuff.

I kinda gave up on anything past the 70s and 80s ages ago after the "pablum rock" craze became entrenched, so I miss out on the good stuff that comes around once in a while.

Anyway . . . great band, great guitar sound . . . inspired me to crank up the Phaez's to the max, throw a boost in front, pick a couple of axes out o' the stash and LET HER RIP!

Thanks Suds, good stuff, I really like I'm no angel. I'm still all about these guys as far as newer stuff goes.

The Blackberry Smoke is great!! Good ol' roots, great leads, no BS rock with tons of feel. Kinda reminds me of old Humble Pie (without Marriott of course . . . there was only one Steve, but I could see him singing this song no prob!!). Thanks!!

And yeah . . . my favourite three songs by the Winery Boys so far are Elevate, I'm No Angel and The Dying. Freaking great band, eh! Horrible name, but I see from their web page they're booked all over South America and stuff, so the member credentials obviously carry some decent weight.

Now . . . if they had a better name, I could see them going huge with the pedigree in the lineup. They could even break big-time as-is, but I have a feeling Portnoy may not be there for the long term unless it really explodes.

BTW--after my tech tweaked and TLC-ed my new Sig T . . . man . . . does it ever play and sound great. Typical Gibson though . . . came from the factory with a bow in the neck you could roller blade on (exaggerating of course, but although the axe is a stunner, and mechanically sound in every way, I doubt anyone in Nashville woulda given the way it came anything above a D- grade). But, I tried 4 of them and bought the one that spoke to me knowing my tech could make it play like butter. Had the best weight, best overall sound, and the vintage burst is gorgeous. The next two best ones were that Wine Red and Translucent Ebony. To me, as much as I like a black/darker Paul, this one had to be a tobacco-style burst or at the very least a light burst or goldtop . . .

So I'm thinking of getting a phaez but randy has not replied to my email. I can't decide which model is for me. Looking for Marshall crunch at bedroom volumes. I already have fender tones covered with a drri. I'm into govt mule, black crowes and play the blues. I was thinking daisycutter but unsure of difference between the various watt models offered. Would the daisycutter be too much gain? I've tried reading through this thread but its pretty long.

Give him time but also make sure to frame your questions as best as possible. Here are a ton of demos:

Jackal 10 would be my recommendation. Covers JTM tones all the way in to JCM Territory, and will allow you to use a variety of octal power tubes. I would request it with a separate boost and MOD control, and maybe a pentode/triode switch to drop the output.

A SIBLY could work as well. :thumb:

I'm including a new V2cutter video here in the big Phaez thread so it can be found in the future.

coolcat2 - the Daisycutter is a pretty gainy amp.

A Jackal is a JTM 18 with a loop. Basically the same amp as your Rocket Queen except that I think Wormburner requested that Randy design your amp with a little less gain than standard.

I like the SE concept for Randys amps because they allow you to use different power tubes. I could see throwing a 6V6 or KT66 in their for blues and blues rock, and then a nice EL34 for classic rock and on. It just seems like a really cool platform to play with to me! :dude:
