Any of you fight/fought fires have my respect. My old friend /judo instructor is a fire chief. I don't know ow how you guys do it. A buddy of mine and I went into a burning house once because we thought a woman and her baby were inside. Luckily they weren't I know you guys have gear but that was some scary shit.

Did that too.

Flashover simulators suck balls. Went through all the training and did some volunteer but I blew out my shoulder not long after graduating and for the pay (nothing basically) I figured I was better off playing with fire and sharp things in a kitchen instead. I do miss forced entry though, I love going to war with a door. And riding in "the big red truck" as I said when I was a kid. But hell I got to do it a few times so that should make 7 year old me happy right?

Just didn't want to bring that up since I feel, a few active fires and fucked up medical calls aside, that I never did it long enough to really claim it.

And with that in mind, trust me, 8 hours in a food truck in August is hot.
I was a firefighter / EMT in my little town for the better of 3 years. We had a section of I-40 that we got calls on. Rollovers, sometimes old folks on their way back from Laughlin, NV.

It wasn't pretty.

Me no likey the heat. Especially with humidity. I can't do it anymore. I get very sick way too quick to enjoy anything outside in the summer. So yeah, for me 90 degrees is hot enough to say too hot. Even 85 degrees is hot if I'm in it long enough.

I have adrenal insufficiency which means if I start sweating like a bastard, I lose salt and I deplete my cortisol reserve and I can end up in a bad way quickly. It's happened before and it's why I avoid going outside in the peak of summer. If I have to be in the heat for whatever reason, I take some cold Sprite/7-Up/Sierra Mist and mix it with table salt and drink it regularly to keep my salt level up as I'm sweating. It tastes about like it sounds, but it works. If that fails and it's still too hot and I'm heading south, I carry a Dexamethasone emergency injection to reverse an adrenal crisis. If that fails, it's time for IV steroids and usually an overnight stay in a hospital until my vitals are stable enough to go home and then I'll double my regular daily steroid dose for a week to compensate and then taper it back down to the regular dosage of it.

alls i know is that i'm in the persian gulf until september. it's gonna be triple digits the whole time. down in the engine room it's pretty warm, on top of that. between the generators it's damn-near unbearable for long. the steering gear room isn't too hot, maybe 110F, but there's no fans back there for some fucked up reason.
i really feel for guys who have to be in this area in full gear. i'm in bib overalls and i make sweat puddles wherever i stop.
it sucks being hot. i finally just got rid of my blanket, it just takes up space. it feels pretty cool in my room and it's 77F on my temp probe.
this place isn't too bad in the winter time, almost like hawaii.
but summer......

yep. i'm on the APL Gulf Express. i flew into Dubai, joined the ship in jebel ali, and that's the port we come back to. our schedule is a little mixed up, but it includes jebel ali, qatar, kuwait and bahrain. we're usually back in jebel ali every week or so. i'm in kuwait right now, and the computer says it's 117F right now. seems about right.

and you’re leaving in september so you’re getting literally the worst part of the year here weatherwise. october is when it starts getting bearable.

but these summer months??
fuck, man....
it sucks.
i'm scottish-norwegian, so it's not like i'm built for the heat.

Might I recommend a giant fair ground / ice cream truck style dill pickle. It’ll work better than trying to put salt into a 7up, and you can still have a soda too.

looks like at least one is into cornhole.
whoever named that game... lol.
Both were playing.. every time one of the guy team mates would throw, the opposing girl would start shaking her ass to distract him. There was a Bachelorette party there also and the bride was OMG good looking. She danced most of the gig
