Isn't the '248' as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th digits the day of the year, ala 248th day of 2020? It would have been made in the Nashville factory if it is Gibson USA. In any case, let's see some pictures, I bet she's a beauty!

The online dating sites are worthless... and the common references have not yet caught up to Gibson going back to the older numbering.

My 2019:

1xxx9xxxx Year
x099xxxxx Day of Year (April 9)

So your 2020 would be
2xxx0xxxx 2020
x248xxxxx September 4.... Oh no... you got a Friday guitar ;)

You can't rely on the lookup sites anyways. They absolutely can't be used to authenticate whether or not a number is valid.
They take "common knowledge" and spit it out based on their table... like a "US17xxxx" Fender will show as made in Corona, 2017-2018, whether it's a fake serial number, or a replacement neck.

Gibson serial numbers are a major cluster due to the multiple factories, and different numbering patterns used over the years. The best information is right on the Gibson web site, but ultimately, a direct contact to the manufacturer is the best way to get the details on the build.
Fender isn't going to have anything solid prior to 1993 in general.

Greetings! Saw this post while looking for serial number info. Here's some good info from Gibson.

Between 2014 and early 2019 Gibson changed their serial number format where the first two digits of the serial number were the last two digits of the year it was made.

In mid 2019 , they changed back to the First / Fifth format they had used for many years. There for, your guitar 224800254, is a 2020 model. It was built on the 248th day of 2020, Friday, September 4th. It was the 254th guitar in that production run.

This info is accurate because I just spoke (11-30-2021) with Gibson concerning a new Goldtop I just bought.
