I should just keep a running tab at this point. Got an email late this afternoon that my 59 has shipped and included tracking. Currently FedEx says that the guitar should arrive Friday, however the funny thing is at the bottom is the product information/cost. Under the product information it has a product release date of 10/6.

I'm so confused.
Did SW send you an email with pics of the guitar?

I just don't understand under what circumstances Gibson could possibly think this is a good way to do business. Ads, websites are up in the morning, and gone by the afternoon. The release date in January was June 23rd, mine showed up at Sam Ash on the 2nd, or 3rd, maybe earlier, because they didn't call me when it came in, they waited until I called and asked to remember it was sitting in the back. Now they keep changing the date on people, 6 weeks, October 6th, October 31st, 7 to 10 weeks, 12 weeks, December, the 12th of never! Jeez, come on Gibson get your shite together! I doubt I'll deal with them again considering the various negative issues that can pop up at any given time. I know that they are capable of producing fine guitars at each of their brands, but rarely do you find a single guitar without some kind of issue. If I ever buy another guitar, I'd get another Eastman, their T59/V semi hollow body, or a Romeo! I can't believe the crap that has been the rollout of the 2020 Epiphone 59 RI!

My rant for the day! K~

Is it really a surprise? Unfortunately Gibson have a bit of a history of screwing things up....Don't get me wrong I love Gibsons and Epiphones, own and have owned many of them.. Obviously they management communication between the USA and Import lines is not working..

Again...let me direct you to a little company in Maryland to show how it's done....:naughty:

Texted my SW rep and he ended up calling me back. He can't explain how my guitar got out of the warehouse. He basically said good for you man, let me know how it plays.

As for what my rep told me, they had a total of 4 in house. 2 of them got sent out Monday for unbeknownst reasons to him.

I know all about Paul, a close friend knows him well, and bought 3 of his guitars when he was an unknown boutique builder. However, I found my way to a workshop,(not a factory!), in Bejing, China, and unless I find something that's an offer I can't refuse, I'll be getting nothing else! They're that good!

They said at NAMM that these would ship in the summer. Some obviously did and I'm betting more of them did as well and the retailers have to sit on them now because of Gibson. Which puts the retailers in a bad spot because I'm sure they have some annoyed customers now. With a lot of businesses tanking these days because of Covid-1984 things are hard enough as is and now Gibson is playing musical chairs with release dates. What kind of launch are they going to have in October anyway? F*ck the October launch, retailers should just ship out what they have now. The economy will be worse by October, this lockdown isn't going anywhere. Gibson should count themselves as lucky for selling any of this shit right now.

I love my '07 Epi '57 Reissue Junior that I bought used, and was tempted by the new Epi Special, but their other models (except for the Moderne) don't interest me at all. For $900 CAD, I'd rather have a Gibson Junior DC Tribute.
I just can't fathom paying and then waiting for a guitar with indeterminate specs and a phantom release date.

I follow this thread just to read about the units delivered and the units cancelled. I'm glad that for the most part, the Epi '59 delivers value. I don't relate brand name or country of origin to quality. I bought an Indonesian Gretsch bolt neck that is well put together, with what seems to have rolled neck binding and has a perfect finish.

But Gibson dropped the ball on the '59, and then kicked it out of play.

When the '59 shows up locally, I'll have a look, sure.

Good morning all!
I am going to attempt to get my new gear threads up today. I may just get one, the Eastman up, and the 59 tomorrow. I have been asked by several people to do the SB59/V first, and that's my plan. I'm trying to figure out the best method to use to record sound samples, and may need some help in how to upload them from the source media to the forum. If anyone can give me a short tutorial in how to transfer wav files or maybe just stereo audio source to the forum, please PM me. I'm thinking I'll run an e609, or SM57 imto the board, then out to a zoom Qn4hd? I think that's the model, and that will give video, and a good signal path instead of just using the "Stereo" mics on the Zoom. That sound okay? I've never made a video in my life, so I need all the help I can get. Is recording, and adding titles to YouTube easy, and self explanatory? Help!! I need somebody!
