Absolutely. Why are they selling guitars without the actual spec. You don't order a Mustang and get a Pinto.
I pointed out before, that changing the spec will create a two tier system and resentment between buyers who get a better spec'd guitar. Not to mention the value of each.

That's why i'm waiting to see what is actually being sold before i buy.

I'm not going to drop 700 quid and getting a lemon.

I agree. This was their chance to have a $1k guitar from epiphone. The difference between Gibson and Epiphone would be built in china vs built in the US that carries weight. Plus the gentleman who said that they should inspect them in the US like PRS I agree but that won't happen because Gibson is more interested in earning more money and PRS know that they can do that through quality but every company has its it's ups and downs.

So update again. I was literally the next in line at Sweetwater, and someone in front of me decided to pass on theirs. Mine now, and being shipped out today and should be in my hands Wednesday. Here's pictures of my specific guitar. Personally a big fan of the flame, and the back has a wavyness to it I don't normally see in Epiphones.

This one is going to look killer in person! Their photos don't show their guitars well enough.

Fretboard loads so much like rosewood...it's insane how much so it does.
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if they did any extra processing or dyed the Indian Laurel. Or just picked through for the darkest stuff they could get.

Good to hear they're getting your situation fixed sooner rather than later. That thing is beautiful!

I mean, overall lucky situation. They took 100 off for the inconvenience of what happened, but I feel like they would have discounted it based on others ITT. Sure, I was bummed, but I'll take 100 off and wait another month or two based on what people are hearing. I ordered it February 20th, so it wasn't like I needed it right away. Some good news comes my way before the weekend, and it just so happens to look like that. I'm pretty stoked right now, hope it looks half as good as it does in the picture.

I've had it with Sweetwater. My guy is giving me the run-around about a discount saying that they can't do both a discount and an exchange. WTF? Literally sent damaged goods.

Yeah I've also not had a good experience, my dude said no as well because it depends on the rep and client relationship. I'm like alright as soon as a local store tells me they are getting them I'm canceling my pre order and going sort of local, I have to drive 1 hour away but so be it and I'm a recurring client, I've bought from them 3 times in the last month including a Katana Artist mk2. Was going to get a tube amp real soon but I'll take my business elsewhere.

...Yeah, a discount and an exchange. That's impossible.

They must think their customers aren't too bright.

Or they just don't care.

Hearing about everyone's experiences with their SW reps sucks. Mines been awesome for me. I lost all my gear in an apartment fire in December 31st 2018. I had sold most of my gear after moving in with a girl who's now my fiance, but had some stuff laying around. Never used Sweetwater before, called them up and explained my issue and my guy recommended me some good gear that wouldn't destroy my budget but scratch that itch, been using him ever sense rebuilding all my gear. Hell, when COVID hit and everyone went into shutdown my 60+ year old father called it quits on his business and retired. He'd always been a huge influence musically for me, but he never picked up a guitar. Called my SW rep the day he retired and said I wanted to put together the best starter guitar set we could and worked on if for a couple days. Turns out the Amp we thought would be best for him wasn't in stock so he sent me a link to GuitarCenter who had it and could ship it faster to my father because the store was local to them. Guy's been great.

My Sweetwater Rep used to be good, but he is faltering badly. He no longer even tries to give me a decent discount. He's slow to respond to calls and email. I've dropped at least $30K through this guy and most likely more. Now I've been swept under the rug...
