It literally is a network, and these bogus accounts are data miners. They "friend" you, then go through and send invites to your friends. When they see that they are a "common friend" with you, they are more likely to accept.

If you have real friends and you are all caught-up in facebook, you pretty much disappear off the face of the earth into the black hole of social media. They start saying things like " where's rogue? ..Dunno, he's ain't around much anymore"..

So real friends, they will come to your house, pull the plug on that shit and take you out water-skiing.
