Welcome, and thanks for the update! Europe, as far as I can tell, has always been scheduled to get the '59 a month or so ahead of the US. A day or so after the guitar was shown at NAMM Anderton's had them for pre-order with a March delivery date, and the US started pre-orders about a week later, with a June delivery. Then Anderton's changed to April, then everyone took the 59 ads down, and they pretty much have been telling us between August, and October! I hope your guy who said August is right as I can't possibly see them coming in June, but who knows? Maybe we'll get lucky and Epiphone will actually put out a delivery date. I can't get any information from Gibson/Epiphone, they just say to ask my dealer, and they certainly know less than Epiphone I would think. As long as they get here by early fall I'll be thrilled!!!

Peace, Stay safe, Keith

Thx for the info! This will be my first LP (Fender and Gretsch guy til now), but i don't see it comin' til Christmas. At the moment, i'm reluctant to buy another epi (these gibson burstbucker...), but the waiting it's being sooo difficult!!!

I know how you feel! I ordered the first day it was available, and was waiting outside Sam Ash when they opened, hopefully I'll get mine as early as you can in the US. I'm very impatient, but I'm hanging in there.

Peace, Keith

hi,
I've been following this posts many days and today I registered just to let you know the information two dealers provided me yesterday: one still says that they will get the epi next month (15th) and the other that they will not get them til august. I'm talking about dealers in Spain, but hope it helps.
I think the first dealer still have the information before the pandemic, so...
I would n

Yup, wait until the 59 is no go, then go standard 50s. The 50 will be there still. No risk.

The 50's are fine but, the ’59 will have a different neck carve, fretboard, pickups and a paper thin finish. It’s in a whole different league than any of the other Epiphone’s currently being offered.

you're right. The other day, I read a post in this same thread that maybe the specs were different, so hope not.

Like Seven said, it's a whole different level of guitar! I'm sure the 50's is a fine guitar, but I fell in love with this when Anderton's did their 10 and a half minute video that showcased it, and I've never really considered getting any other Epi unless the specs I was given are wrong. I have plenty of guitars to play until it gets here, so wait I will do! :dude:

Dammit this thread is making it impossible for me to turn my back. I mostly solo and love the rich sounds of the neck pup only....this '59 seems to deliver the goods. Because of the "fullness" of the bridge pup, I will venture into bridge/neck position and even just bridge on LPs......vs. a Strat where the bridge always sounds like an ice pick.

Then there is the paper thin finish.......this may really be the "deal-maker" for me.

Not that I have a lot of Epiphones but except for my epiphone les paul tribute plus 60s outfit
this is the first one that did not have mudbuckers and to be honest sounds pretty damn good as is and no need to change to something else for the time being. I do have a 2019 gibson lp tradional and when I do an A/B of the two I sometimes forget which one I am holding... they are very similar in weight and neck profile. I am still keeping an eye on the 59 but if it is a no show it will not be a big deal for me now that I have the `50s.

check out this guy, start at 12:55 he says the 59 will have same basic specs as the 50s..? but with minor changes to make it more like a CS guitar.

thx for your comment. You’ve solved one of the issues I had buying an Epiphone (it’s worth the money or maybe wait until having the money for a Gibson). I know it will be different, of course... but to get my first LP, I think it will be a good choice (more if the specs of the 59 are finally correct). About the photos, if I don’t look at the logo, no idea which one is the Epi. (And the Tele out there is the same I have, hahaha)

All Les Pauls are "basically" the same.

The thin finish is what really makes this one special. The worst thing about Epiphone Les Pauls is the thick ass plastic coating.

The 50's, and 60's have probuckers instead of Gibson USA Burstbuckers, right? In the videos I've seen of the 50's, and 60's, they don't sound as warm, and clear as the 59 Capt. Lee played at NAMM. It truly sounded like the classic Gibson Les Paul's that I've always craved, but neither of my now long gone Paul's could ever get. If the delivered product sounds like the prototype, I'll be in tone heaven!

Remember the best of this country, who died to keep us free on this Memorial Day weekend, Keith

I think I placed my order the same day. I have gone back-and-forth a dozen times on whether or not to follow through or pull the plug. I have decided to let it ride. I put it out of my mind, it’ll be a nice surprise when it does finally show up. If it doesn’t live up to the hype, I’ll just ask for a refund. It would’ve been easy to pull the plug, but I really want to see it with my own eyes before I make that decision

Way to Hang Fry!! Glad you decided to wait. I feel the same way, if it's not what I thought, I'll return it, and wait for a spectacular deal to pop up!
No Loss, No Worries!

Peace, Keith
