Gday Folks, I know this is sellers thread but I was just wondering if any Aussie members have a Les Paul Custom shop Junior they’re thinking of selling?

Cheers, Scott.

G'day all

I have a 1981 Hamer Special for sale ('Les Paul Special') if anyone is interested.

This guitar was a gift from my parents 25+ years ago but unfortunately I never took up playing. As the wife is on the hunt for more wardrobe space at the moment, I find myself in the situation where I've decided to sell the guitar.

As my own knowledge about guitars is very limited, I have visited several guitar stores (including ones that have sold Hamer guitars) for feedback and valuations. This included the store connecting it to an amp to ‘test’/play the guitar. Feedback includes:

- Plays great and is in good condition.

- Mahogany body

- All original parts, with a possible exception that one of the three controls for volume and master tone may be a replacement control.

- When it came to the colour of the guitar some called it ‘Flame Top’, however in my opinion it looks more like the ‘Opaque Red Special’, which was one of Hamer Guitar’s own colours they made it in.

The guitar comes with a Hamer hard case, which is a a bit worn on the outside but good condition inside. Also included is a leather shoulder strap (not Hamer made).

The guitar has some nicks, which is expected from an old vintage guitar that has been used. Refer photos for these. There is also a small ‘unplugged’ screw hole from a previous ‘leftie’ that used it.

I am selling the guitar for AUD$1,500.

It can be posted at the buyer’s expense. Alternatively, it can be picked up in Brisbane.

The value that the stores gave a 1980-1983 Special is between AUD$1,500 to AUD$2,000. They advised that AUD$1,500 was for the ‘worst’ Hamer Specials and this guitar is definitely not in that category. I was advised to advertise it for AUD$2,000. However, as my wife wants to reclaim the wardrobe, I have priced it low for a quick sale.

For comparison, I have seen a 1982 Hamer Special (also used) listed in an Australian retail store for AUD$2,700.

G'day all,

Tumble weeds blowing through here!

My brother has a couple of 10" Weber speakers for sale on flea bay if you guys are interested. Brand new, never used.

They're Weber 10F150T speakers. That means they're copies of the old Chicago made Jensen C10P speakers with a 1.5" voice coil. The bigger coil and the ceramic magnet will give them better bass, and the T denotes the ribbed cone Weber uses to enhance top end.

Great match for Fender Super amps, or any other American voiced amp using 10s.

WTB: 61 - 65 SG Special or Jnr project

Hi guys,
I’m always looking for personal restoration projects. Right now I’m going through an SG phase and would like to add a Special or Junior to my collection. In particular I’m looking to restore any SG Special or Junior from 1961 - 1965 or mid to late 60s SG melody makers. Please let me know if you want to get rid of any unwanted projects at a reasonable price.

FS: 1996 Gibson Les Paul R9 1959 Reissue, Custom Shop with Peter Florance + premium upgrades $9450 AUD.

IMAGES:

Up for sale is this ‘59 Reissue Les Paul from the Gibson Custom Shop. Built in 1996, this R9 is in near mint condition. Featuring a stunning ‘pin flame’ maple top, this guitar has received several historic upgrades which are detailed below. All the original parts are included in the sale and the guitar has received no structural modifications.

Pickups: Peter Florance Voodoo ‘57 bridge, ‘59 neck double white set. Original boxes included.
Pickup rings, pickguard, knobs: Creamtone USA
Tailpiece + posts, tuners, switch tip: Montreux
Bridge: Crazyparts Germany ABR-1 with soft brass saddles and thumbwheels
Pots: Vintage Inspired Pickups VIPots 550k
Capacitors: Vitamin Q
Wiring: Jackson Electronic Luther (Texas) vintage correct yellow cloth shielded grounds etc.
Switch: original with replaced Emerson wiring.
Bridge posts and tailpiece studs: Original
Truss rod cover, output jack + plate, poker chip: Original
Case: correct Gibson Historic Lifton case from 2008 (non original)

All original parts have been packaged carefully and are included in the sale. Original screws have been used to secure all new components so as not to disturb the thread of the original screw holes.

This Les Paul presents and plays wonderfully. Original frets are in excellent condition with minimal wear. Fretboard is clean with no damage. There are a few small hairline finish cracks, the most noticeable near the bridge volume knob. There is no wear on the back of the neck, and the back of the body presents almost as new. There appears to be a factory finish touch-up on the top corner of the headstock which you can see in the photos. The sunburst maple top is (again) stunning. The thin, tight flame pattern is rare and indicative of the quality of Gibson wood from this era. The neck profile is a classic ‘59. This is a rare, early custom shop guitar that has been given the full gamut of upgrades to bring it closer to true historic ‘59 spec than Gibson was offering at the time of production.

Price is $9450 AUD. Happy to pack and ship with insurance at buyers expense.
Please get in touch with any questions. Thanks for looking!
