What is the big difference between Epiphone and Gibson custom?

I know its the headstock. But what about the price? Wouldn't it be the same price since technically you could get them the same just different headstock?

IMO I'd get Gibson, just thought it was good question/thing to know.

They share absolutely nothing in common other than basic body shape. ;)

the wood, the neck, the QC, the pickups, the neck, the construction... I dunno, name it, and it is probably a little different (the shape is pretty well the same I guess... LoL)

Go play an Gibson custom and then play a Epi custom.. Miles apart. I love those ebony fingerboards, they add a lot of snap to the notes you play.

Can you explain the differences?

Different wood - neck & body
Different pickups
Different headstock
Different tuners
Different pickguards ( 1 ply versus 2 or 3)
Different craftsmanship.
Different wiring - gauge/type
Different soldering - amount of flux - acid versus rosin
Different pots and capacitors

Gibson is like eating a fine meal, Epi is like eating a piece of dog shit.
the difference in feel and playability and quality just needs to be experienced 1st hand to know what people are talking about. Epi have bad nuts, wiring, frets, pups, lamimated tops..

Damn... They're watching you!!! :D

Let 'em. My Epi Custom is...OK....but compared to my 1980 Gibson Custom?

Feh....it's firewood....if it even deserves that kind of treatment.

The neck is made out of...something that sure as hell ain't mahogany on that Epi. Maybe agathis....but whatever it is...that guitar is meant to be played until destroyed. There's probablyb better Epi's out there, but mine was a piece of shit from the get-go

(Also can't speak for new Gibby customs, but my '80 is a badass instrument. There's just...no comparison at all...)

(PS: If someone from Gibson ever comes across this post...here's a message for ya....

Hey man...your Epi customs are a ripoff. Seriously....how can you justify the costs of those? The Standards are better by a mile. Feh...someone outta call down to that Qingdao plant and AT LEAST tell 'em to put the extra binding and paintjob on THOSE guitars... )

Epis are not bad guitars, per se.
Better than Turser or cheap knock offs.

But they are not, 'Made in the USA.'

They don't have to be....

they could, however, at least be as nice as the Epi Standard guitars...they're a wrung below those...and they cost hundreds of dollars more!

And, so, you know what eating dog shat tastes like ??? .... scary..... and wtf is this lamimated top you speak of ??? Veneer, perhaps, you mean ??? I dunno ....nor do I really care.... I'd buy a Gibson if they were realistically priced..... hence, I own an Epi LP STD+....good guit at great price. YMMV, and I'm sure I'm an arsehole for even breathing...

Yeah...sure thing.....

*gets on phone and dials Qingdao*

*click click click click click*

*waits for response and starts talking*

Me: 嘿人…

Me: 好。 无论如何如此Epiphone吉他由什么做成, ?

Mr. Lee: HAW HAW HAW HAW!!!!

*hangs up phone*

Ummm.....Dennis? I think he's telling me to buy somethin' else...:laugh2:

*scrapes the feh off of shoe that fell off the Epi neck*
