Hi there,
a guy here in Italy is selling a 2003 Les Paul Standard at 1500€ (about 1700$) but i think I can get to 1400. I have some doubts because I can't try the guitar before buying and I never owned a Standard or a similar model for a lot of years (mine is a 2016). Let's see the pics:

So far so good, it looks stunning... BUT:

I guess it is pretty normal for a guitar built 15 years ago to have those kind of cracks on the paint. Or it isn't? AND:

What's wrong with this headstock? It looks like the guy wanted to remove the logo with a screwdriver :D

In the ad he also says the guitar is not chambered and has burstbuckers.

Any advice?

Swiss cheese weight relief (9 holes)

should be burstbucker pros

so a 2003 standard should have weight relief holes? the guy says the guitar doesn't have those... mmmh. I asked him how much the guitar weighs... let's see what he says

I don't recall when it started exactly, maybe in the late 80's but certainly by the early 90's ALL LP Standards have weight relief; the 9 hole Swiss cheese holes. That is completely different from chambered. In the 00's, Gibson came out with the LP Traditional and there are certain years that those have NO weight relief at all, but I don't know the exact years without doing some research.

So, the 03' Standard you have pictured certainly has traditional weight relief, but is not chambered.

Some say late 82 but more definitely 83----
Researched this for my own 82. Made in Feb 82.
11 pounds! Not likely relieved..

Only thing suspicious is your title says 2012 and your post says 2003...I am so confused, lol.

That`S a nice looking guitar (and all is ok for it`s age).
1,500€ is also an excellent price for a Standard.

I`d say buy it quick :thumb:

Fixed. I was confusing things with another Standard on sale. It's a 2003 :D
Actually I found 19 used Les Paul Standard selling from 1400 to 1600 here in Italy... many much newer than the 2003. A guy sells a goldtop "as new" 2012 for 1400.

Cool looking guitar (no doubt about that)

Really guys??? Checking is normal for 15 y.o. guitars???

Dumb question about the tuners of this guitar.
No hex shaped nut???
Isn't that something normal for "traditionals" or "old" Std's?

Std > Trad pricewise.
Gud idea to name/call it a Std. from that perspective.
But maybe I'm just a nub.

I'm aware of that. But it's not NORMAL.
It's CARELESSNESS (or deliberate)

Not according to some tales I've read here, like living it alone in the living room and checking just started from nowhere and so on...
