I have a good friend who is of Mexican descent, and her mother was born there. One day when visiting her parents' house they were cooking up something suspicious looking in a pan on the stove and putting it into tortillas. Of course they offered me one, but being the picky, picky eater I am I wanted to know first what that was exactly. Brains. (I'll assume not human).

Back when we were in college we were roommates. And she had some great smelling soup on the stove. I went to stir it and large, whitish flat things were in it. So I inquired about what kind of soup is this exactly? Beef. Beef? Why is it white? It's white beef. Ok, Brenda, what is this exactly because it looks like guts or something. Intestines!

I think you have to grow up eating certain things, and I did not.

Oh Roxy, you’re the best!!

(I had two Italian grandmothers!! I’m 100% Italian....not only 100% Italian, but 100% Calabrese!)

My mom was born in Italy and my Dad was born in Witherbee NY, (@DarrellV might know the town), shortly after his parents came to America in 1911!

My mom made some killer home made Italian food!!!!!......including home made macaroni!!

I miss those days. :(

I'm half Italian. Both of my grandparents were born in Italy and their families emigrated here when they were children. Yes, her cooking was absolutely divine. She would be in the kitchen all weekend to prepare Sunday dinner. I have never eaten as well since.

It took me 10 years to figure out her fried zucchini, but I finally mastered it.

To this day I have never made a pie from scratch. In fact, I've only made one pie in my life. An ex-boyfriend demanded I make a cherry pie for Christmas dinner for his kids. I said, oh, I think I should buy one, lol! And he insisted it had to be home made. Ok, I'm not exactly Betty Crocker. In fact I don't bake at all because I've never had children, and a single person shouldn't be making dozens of cookies or pies or cakes just for themselves if they want to maintain a certain weight.

OMG. It was the ugliest freaking pie you ever saw. The whole top caved in. I was so embarrassed and wanted to toss it, but he said kids don't care, bring it over. It actually was rather tasty considering I had not the foggiest clue of what I was doing. But, I'm not making another. Ever.

My mother made Menudo a lot, I could not stand it. Tripe with Hominy and spices,... yuck.

That's what it was called! I admit it smelled pretty darn good, but I just couldn't bring myself to try it. I'm a queasy type. I wanted to be a veterinarian from the time I was like 4 until I took biology in high school. Then I learned I cannot deal with anything underneath skin. Medical profession was out!

My mother's maiden name is Ramona Morales, though she was 100% native american (Yaqui/Apache) but with a hispanic upbringing. So mexican food was a big part of my growing up. My Nana was the best.... homemade corn tortillas,.. thick and warm .. mmmmmm i can taste them now.
Nana made the best Spaghetti very very Italian.

Raisins? I always thought mince meat was some kind of disgusting leftover parts of something else put into a pie so people would eat them. For some reason I picture chopped up mice lmao!

Mincemeat is like Christmas Pie! Whatever is in the fridge goes in! :squint:

Peach>Cherry>blueberry>apple but I dont turn down any good fruit pie! :bowdown

Pecan pie is my favorite!!
Love chorizo......love menudo.....ate goat with Bedouin fellas out in BFE. Monkey brains at te UAE compound. Blood pudding and blood sausage? Hell ya!
Fried spiders in SA. I can eat anything and usually end up liking it.
Had a wonderful young Mexican soldier who lived beside me on base(Knox). His wife and her mother would make me some of the best damn eats I have ever had.
I’m not kidding when I say I will try anything.....half the fun of being able to go to some of these places was being able to try the local food. Good times that was..

I have seen adults do this in their jail cells/public restrooms... I guess this is how they learn it. :D

Ya know brother, I have heard that from other guys as well. WTF!?!
And Public restrooms!?!? Man, that’s a clear indication as to just how far our society has fallen if you ask me......disgusting.

For the love of all that's holy, give the boy his '59 burst.

It's just a guitar, made of wood and metal.

It's not like I'm asking for your grandma's virtue.
