Well kink that's pretty precise I guess and quite correct.
If it were me and I had an old wood to '57 conversion I'd have on it whatever I had at the time(bar a Nashville bridge and other totally unacceptable hardware) and upgrade to vintage parts over time when I had the inclination and the money. But stuff like the plastic parts that make no difference to tone whatsoever could be sourced from todays suppliers as I personally see no need to spend good $$ on period specific bits,to me it's the wood that would be the most important ingredient.

REAL PAF's...no sense in spending money on a conversion with 50's wood and put in fakes:applause: and the rings are 50's I think

You think? Its your guitar and you don't know if the rings are original? They're upwards of 12K and you don't know? The finish is original and you want to age it?

If you read this thread you see where I corrected myself and said the rings are repros and the good kind...it is a refin I never said the finish was original stop looking to create trouble:wtf:

I just got back from fishing all day, I am tired and shot and not that I am a great player by any means..please take into account I suck even worse today..:)

Here is the clip of the 52/57 conversion through the 71 silver face Fender Chamnp. It is near 10 minutes long with a variety of songs. The amp settings are explained in the clip...

Volume always on 10 with treble and bass at 1, 5 and then 10. Here is the link and you should be able to fast forward through it as well when you want

I think the back was finished without grain filler, and that really makes it glow like gold but it takes alot of laquer coats to fill that grain! It looks and sounds FINE! Great catch!

Here are a couple of pics of my 52/57 from when I got it a couple of months back...it has aged some more since these pics were taken then with the humidity of the beach this summer...

I will post recent pics from today tomorrow.... I still need Chris to age the guitar just a little more on top of this as well....everything on the guitar is REAL to 52/57...this is not a historic or reissue...

 Black Crowes, Jealous Again?

I know I am. I'd live with repro pickup surrounds myself. Played a real '57 once and if it's even close to that sound and feel I personally wouldn't mind who made the plastic bits. Real PAFs would have to be high on the "wish list" though.

Not sure I approve of conversions, but this one is definitely making me think I might!

I had a buddy of mine play it one night while I sat in the audience..he did Melissa, the Mountain Jam and then You Don't Love Me Anymore...it was pure Dicky Betts tone EVERY TIME!! It was awesome!!

As I told the other knucklehead:rofl: when he posted that the only thing not original on that is the PUP rings...other wise it is PAF's, pick guard everything is correct and of course a refret with the dunlop's and the finish...CM matched the color perfect!!

Chris handles many collections and has the real 57's and 59's to match colors to...in person you can see the green in the gold..pretty cool!

Wowe I also noticed I have become a VIP member..is that because I have three 50's or for the number of posts? hahahahahaa

It was a 52/57 Miirabella conversion that was done years ago...how many I am not sure, but the dude that owned it wanted to get rid of it cause he needed $$$$..so Chris called me and brough ti over and it was awesoem althogu the frets wer elike mountains. I just had them shaved down to feel more like Gibson's 57'-59' frets instead of those Himylayan Dunlops...it sound slike the ABB even in my hands...very light and just incredible.

My early unbound 52/59 conversion posted in the other thread should be in my hands perhaps by Saturday. Chris had a touch up or two to do..he and I want this to be perftect and Chris says this one will blow away the one MGL sold for $35k a few years back. CM says this is his final hurrah and this will be absolutely perfect...That will be posted in a brand new thread as soon as it is ready.
