I remember a member here posted this trailer a year or two ago...

and it got my curiosity.

but did the movie ever come out? I can't find any info on it. And all the Ultraman stuff I'm finding online doesn't have english subtitles.

I like Godzilla'ish giant monsters fighting movies. And I tend to like 'weird' Japanese stuff like Voltron and big robots,..I even watched the old Japanese Spiderman where Spidey has a giant mech he flies around in. (cheesy but cool.)

And I've seen Ultraman mentioned in so many other Asian movies, or you'll see a kid playing with an Ultraman toy. So I figured it must be this huge thing and it would be easy to find a good movie or something of it,..but nope. No Luck.

it's like Mazinger Z, another one I seem to have that same problem with. I actually had a toy of him when I was a kid but never found any movies or episodes in English. Just little bits here and there on YouTube.

I just like Voltron/Transformers/Godzilla/Robotech,...all these 'giant monsters and giant robots fighting' movies. They're cheesy but fun.

I can remember watching Ultraman after school back around 2nd-3rd grade. There were a couple of times I had to go to a friends house and he lived in town, cable tv was a honest to goodness novelty then. I didnt even know what the hell he was talking about. But I digress,Ultraman....ya,it was pretty cool. Lotsa neat monsters and stuff. I had no idea there was an actual new movie being made.

I like the disk that cut him in half the long way.

still though,...no subs,..no dubbing. Not that it matters during fight scenes,..but can you imagine watching Robotech with no subs or dubbing?

Robotech,..now there's something that would be cool in a modern/CGI live-action version.

+1000. I was a kid and loved the Robotech series. Never got past episode 6 of the new generation. the tv station would stop and then go back to episode 1 of The Macross saga. I'd have to watch for 2 months to see if they would get further and the. it would start the same loop over again.

Mal, BTW is that Daft punk in your avatar? Lol.

some fun stuff I'm finding on Youtube...

American 70's Spider-Man

Japanese Supaidaman

Amazing Spider-Man 2 (great costume, big eyes finally! only took like 7 movies or so to get big eyes? )

though the new costume does look really good and very 1980's comic book style

...still haven't found any good Ultraman stuff. :laugh2:

Did find Robotech Macross Saga which is cool.

I have the whole Ultraman series on disc. My wife found it for me a couple years ago. I still haven't opened it. I'm afraid I'll binge watch it over and over and ruin the great memories or sumpin' stupid.

I RAN home at lunch to catch it before the Flintstones came on as a kid and loved it.

Found it!

can't find it in English though. None of the torrent sites seem to have it either. I thought he was popular in a cult status kind of way but maybe not.

quest complete. A ton of Ultraman and other japanese manga/anime,..free to watch (with limited commercials) and subtitles. :dude:

http://www.crunchyroll.com/ultraman-80 <--original I think

http://www.crunchyroll.com/ultraman-x <--more current looking

edit: Looked into it more. Crunchyroll is totally legit and legal. They're like Hulu for Anime. They even have an App for your phone. Sign up with a free account and you can keep track of your viewing history and queue just like Netflix or Hulu.

Pretty cool. Glad I found it, now I can watch Ultraman. :thumb: They've got 10 versions of it too so I guess it's all the seasons from the original to the most current. Pretty neat.

I'm just a sucker for giant monsters and robots. And there's really only one country that makes those movies/tv shows. :laugh2:

looking forward to the next Pacific Rim movie, where you get both monsters and robots.

Gu3Cz4b.gif

There is a certain cheesy element to the old stuff, even the original Godzilla and such,..King Kong,..it takes some imagination I guess to make it real in your mind.

But the new stuff looks so good you don't really have to 'try'.

Like Kong Skull Island looked pretty amazing. The way the Transformers movies look, or Pacific Rim. Even Power Rangers at the end had Giant Robot fighting Giant Monster.

Hopefully they'll maybe do a live action Voltron or Robotech. It's pretty unreal how good they get the CGI looking these days.

I'll check out that forum, thanks.

I remember those old Spider-Man movies! Loved them. Also loved Voltron.
It can't be long before they make a Voltron movie like Transformers, and Thundercats as well. Kinda surprised it isn't done already.

I was probably around the same age as the MMPR when they came out in the 90's, so yeah I watched em. (or I was the age they were supposed to be? :laugh2: ...they were probably 30 playing 15. :laugh2: )

...plus the theme song was pretty rocking. :dude: tapped guitar solo and stuff.

Yellow Ranger FTW

no that was Screech in Saved by the Bell.

...and that chick who played Jesse did that Showgirls movie.

she was hot as hell in that movie too. So was Gina Gershon.

I think the pink ranger tried to be a legit actress, I could be wrong though.

edit:

yeah, internet myth apparently...from the Dial-Up days
