I have 2 one is a black 1980 Standard and the other is a natural 1978 Deluxe that was routed many years ago. My 3rd is a new 16 Traditional which is a great guitar so far. I run through a 79 2203 with an old 1971 b cab that has 1977 greenbacks in it.

NICE, I love my '78 JMP2203.

BUT...

They'd have to be pre '77 to be "greenbacks", from mid 75-'79, they had black magnet covers, so they'd be known as "black backs"

Which version? G12M-25, G12H30?

Post a pic, and I can date them down to the month..it would be like a BK16X or something like that on the frame, that would be the date code, like this, my Febuary of '76 Blackback G12h30 55hz speakers.:D

I tried to track the numbers on the frame and came up with T1221 and the dates (if I figured correctly to some cab site) stamped kj14 were in the 77 era, so I may have the blackbacks. I thought the blackbacks didn't have the T1221 on the frames ? Whatever they are they are smooth and kinda brown sounding with this head. This is one of the links I used. http://www.bygonetones.com/celestion-date-codes.html

I pulled the back off the cab and I forgot I do have one black cover on the speaker and the others must have vibrated off before I bought the cab. here are some pics. I have three with the CD code and one with the KJ code. thanks Tom

Ooopsie, looks like ya got it flipped...K is the month, and J is the year.
J='76, K=October so probably G12M-25s from October '76.

I see where you got the '77, when flipped, it would read September of 1977.:D

Still amazing speakers if they were EITHER code.:thumb:

OH..so 3 of those are 1971s!!! march of '71 to be exact..SCORE!! I bet they are original to the cab.

That is great! The KJ is the '76.

Looks like maybe the green covers were harvested possibly..a non issue in my book..as you certainly don't hear them, or only ever see them when the back panel is off the cab.

What number is the count at?:hmm:

It was 620 with the burst a couple pages back.

I am assuming (yeah, I know) that tjdj1 added 3 more of his during the discussions making 623. I don't know if he counted them earlier

This lovely goldtop from a new old member would be 624 (or 621 if tjdj would kindly advise otherwise)

I forgot to update count when I posted my pic, so the count would increase by two for me to 622, plus the post after of 1, so I believe the count is 623 now, thanks !

OK, I guess I've got 624-627 then?

624: late 1973 small script factory standard
625: 1974 ES-335
626: 1981 EDS-1275
627: 1973 SG standard (currently under reconstruction)

It's a Norlin Les Paul thread so only the '73 counts...

... but damn that's a nice collection!
