That's why I transport my LP Custom in one of these instead of the original customshop case. Not because I love my custom so much ( I do love it ), but to avoid a headstock break, because if I ever need to sell it, I can atleast get a normal price for it.

Hm...yes....the seller does not agree to such low prieces, I am even willing to pay abit more, probably overpaying, we actually already agreed, but now he does not respond anymore, probaly hoping to get a better offer.

I would not do a complet refin, just some touch up at the neck, change pickups, and do a refret since I like my Dunlops 6105 quite high, and I prefer a bone nut over anything else ( dispte of ivory....)

Cheers, Alex

I'd pass on following up if I were you, the flame is not that great, and the headstock break devalues it tremendously. Color is weird, too.

Definitely not worth more than 1k on the open market. Even a lefty with a hs repair wouldn't fetch that.

So I am back in contact with the seller, but he is not willing to go anything near what has been suggested here in this thread. He bought it from a dealer in the Netherlands for 1500€ with a No-Name case. Now there is a Gibson Case included.

@ Oranjeaap:

Thank you very much for the linked guitars. Since my girlfriend is living in the Netherlands I know Marktplaats quite well, and also know these guitars, at least their advertisments.

Actually I have an appointment for picking it up on Friday, but since it is a quite long drive I am even less sure what to do.

Think I will let it pass away then...

Cheers, Alex

Sounds like he overpaid. If you wait a little while, something better will turn up. There's a really nice 1991 goldtop on reverb, but it's a bit above what you're looking for.

Yeah, please do. That asking price is way to high, even for Germany. I understand prices in Germany are higher but...

Seller => wishful thinking

@ Sheriff:

Please do not missunderstand me, but I think comparing a 2014 Classic and a 1992 Classic does not really work. The 1992 Classic is basically an R0 before the Custom Shop was established...

Of course it is missing the long neck tenon, probably it has some weight relief holes, and the Gibson logo is not poitioned in the right manner.

But still you get:

- thin binding in the cutaway
- posts for the ABR1 directly into the top wood
- Vintage small headstock

If i might be wrong or if I forgot something important, please correct me!!!!!

Cheers, Alex

On Marktpaats? Or Ebay?
My experience with Marktplaats is also, that the seller is showing the starting bid price, but they quite often do not accept these...In germany are not much for sale at the moment at all, just a really nice one here:

https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s...premium-plus-traumgitarre-/409591344-74-10482

Of course lots of stuff like this, which I don´t even like to look at...

https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/gibson-les-paul-classic-2015-hcs/441835318-74-3489

And this one which I also do not like because of some reasons (color, Headstock Decal, Year of maufacturing etc....)

https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/gibson-les-paul-classic-bj-1998/440833905-74-9283

A really cool guitar, also with cracked neck, but really rare. This is sold by a famous Vintage Dealer, so Price discussions are totally sensless with him ;)

1995 GIBSON LES PAUL CLASSIC - ALL MAHOGANY BODY - NO MAPLE TOP - BLUESY | eBay

And this one is still under auction, but I also dislike it due to year of manufactoring, binding and inlay on headstock, the bridge and the bushings for the bridge etc....

GIBSON Les Paul Classic Antique 2007 - VINTAGE SUNBURST - Mahagony Top | eBay

Yeah it was on marktplaats. Asking price was 1300, no bidding allowed. It was gone after 1 week so I guess it sold. Copper top is quite rare.
That's why I would never pay 1300 for a broken headstock Les Paul Classic. They're just a regular production model, if you search long enough you'll find another one like it eventually :)

well.....I am not searching at all for any Les Pauls at the moment...just like to buy broken neck Gibsons...like my R8 ;)
Being a professional Luthier doesn´t give me any worries about playability or sound or any other work on a guitar :) If it doesn´t work propperly, I make it work again....

For 1000€, which was my first offer I would have bought it without any doubts, but we are now at 1250€, and he will not go any cent lower.

never seen a guitars weight posted in grams.

must be a hella nice weed scale.

See how easy it was to convert from grams to kilograms? Try converting from ounces to pounds. I tell you, Europe has it right. "Standard" my ass. Who counts in twelves and sixteens?

As you say Europe adopted the metric system wholeheartedly years ago and it is a lot easier to use, especially in engineering and science.

We (UK) use both metric and imperial measurement systems, which can be properly confusing:

We buy fuel in Litres, but then calculate miles per gallon.
Beer is sold in pints, wine and spirits are sold in millilitres.
Food is weighed out in grams or kilograms, but we ask for a pound of sausages or a pound of bacon.
Pipes used in plumbing are only available in metric sizes, but often the threaded fitting are in BSP (British Standard Pipe).
Ambient temperature is quoted on the weather report in Celcius, but most people would say "Wow! It's warm today, must be at least in the 80's". Clearly Farenheit. Unless it's cold, then you would hear "Wow! It's cold today, must be -5". Clearly Celcius.
Oh and we still talk about our body weight in stones and ounces..

I swear if we ever adopted driving on the right hand side of the road, it would only be on the motorway and dual carriageways. The rest of the network would still be drive on the left.
