I do get that, but I would have thought it was ok for you to link a post that just contained information and research??

learn something new, I guess.

I have looked at the post over there that you made...maybe just copy and paste it here?

It's an 'evolving' thread/post, so I will leave it there I guess.

And one more Les Paul Pro Deluxe:

That these guitars were part of batches ordered later during the year seems to be supported by the pot dates on this one - this means that this guitar was likely not completed until a few months into 1977:

FWIW. I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard purchased new in late 1977 from Quigley Music in K.C. MO. The SN is 002345##. The pot codes are 1377535. It weighs 10.5 pounds.

Pat, I have seen code dates differ by about that much, compared to the serial etc. before.

those pots were made the 35th week of 1975...had to get boxed up, shipped, pots get unboxed, put in a holding bin, Holidays come and go, it is the new year, pots get put in a guitar, guitar boxed up, guitar shipped out to store etc.

guitar sits in store 8-10 months...you or Kris comes along and BAM!!

A Norlin Guitar god is Born!

true story......

There is a Feb. something stamp in the cavity under the plate, from the lil bit I saw, not doing a full plate pull..
So the 4-8 lead time on the pot code to final assembly is realistic..I'd say our are early '76's.

Man..this is the ULTIMATE guitar ID pic, you got it ALL right there (back side pic would be cool too!)
Nice presentation! One look and BOOM, it hits ya with the vitals!
I dig it!

My '76 Wine Red LP Deluxe, Wine Red (1 of 14 according to the Meiners book which we all know has some inaccuracies, but had to be based on SOMETHING...) and it could be 1 of 447847, and I'd feel just the same.:D
It's SN is 00130367.

I have a 76 Standard Tobacco burst. Oval S/N decal reads,
LES PAUL-DELUXE
made in usa
001299--
Someone once told me they made the necks in advance, which may explain the Standard/Deluxe contradiction. Seemed like poor shop management and unlikely, but hey, who knows. Anyone else hear something like that?
For info - pots are stamped 1377604.
I've had it since 1982 and have never removed the pickups, but they look factory. I don't really want to put a screwdriver to those perfect rings.
I'm curious as to originality, but she's beautiful and sounds good (to me anyway) so I'll never sell her.

I have seen different decals on different guitars, but there's only one real way to prove that is a factory standard......

pull them.

I would call that a Deluxe with factory humbuckers - quite a few around like these, with 'Standard' on the truss rod covers. I guess that prompted Gibson to reissue the 'actual' Standard later in 1976.
