I posted this in another thread but two guitarist from pretty big name bands use sheraton II's

Ezra Koenig of vampire weekend plays a sheraton II - seen here on the mainstage at coachella 2013 (not my picture)

Scott Mcmicken of Dr.Dog also plays a sheraton II (my picture).

Mine was my back up to my SG at several gigs. I have played it "live," plenty of times.

Mine is a 1997 model which got pickups and wiring and a bunch of other stuff in 2010 or so. I have since recorded with it and taken it to several jams. It more than holds its own with the wiring and pickup changes.

Yep, best bang for the buck Epi out there.
I used to take mine to open mic blues jams(along with my Tele) and everybody loved it. Mine's also been rewired and fitted with Harmonic Designs Z-90's(custom P90) and she can do it all...

Stock or modded, wonderful guitars.

I'd have to argue that right now the Sorrento with HSC, Gibson mini buckers and CTS pots for $499 is at least a tie with the Sheraton II. But either is a freaking awesome guitar for the money.

Likewise Shane theroit with the Neville Bros., and of course John Lee Hooker (a-hnhn-hnhn-hnhn-hnhn!)

In 22 years the only time I've regretted my Sheraton was when I had to rewire her (major PITA - but she's worth it!)

A few years back I traded a new (2008) Epi Casino for a '94 Epi Sheraton II straight up. I definitely got the better end of the deal. I'm in the process of upgrading the pups (classic 57's), pots and toggle switch. Great playing and comfortable neck with nice low action.

My only gripe would be the neck scale. The frets get fairly tight as you move up the neck, and no fret markers. No big deal though. I didn't buy it to shred...and I can't anyway :)

You are not joking at all. I swear I was about to throw the bitch in the fire-pit during the wiring process. BTW, as a PSA to those of you who want to rewire yours, buy mini-pots. I couldn't fit full size pots in.

Great guitars!

I have a 62 Anniversary which got a Bigsby, and a black one which I rewired with a pair of Seth Lovers ( You can get full size pots in there, but you have to get the angle just right! )

They are that good I ended up selling my ES-345.

From what I heard on my rewire thread, year & factory detrmine whether or not full-sized pots will work; several people have said they got them in, but many - myself included - were unable. And believe me, I tried! So if you have to rewire a Sheri, decide if you're feeling lucky and can absorb the extra coin before ordering full-sized (BTW, guitarelectronics.com sells the ±9% 500K audio full-size for $6.95; WD wants $11.95 for them). Or research and see which version who owns - i.e., my '92, believed to be Samick, won't take them, while Paul46's '62 reiss will. Report back on your '94, please, Zen.

The guitarist for Silversun Pickups also uses an Epiphone Sheraton

It really is a great guitar for the money. The tone is amazing and everyone will compliment the way it looks.

I put 57's in mine after playing a 335 with 57's. And believe me, the Sheraton has every bit of tone that $2200 335 had. Mine wouldn't take full size pots, so I went with minis. It took a minute to dial in the 57's to the sweet spot (the 57+ in the bridge needed to be just a bit low to keep it from being to "screamy" on the top end).

Bridge and neck now balance perfectly, and the neck tone will make yer drool.

When I installed the Z90s in my 2000 Sheraton, the CTS pots were just barely able to fit through the F-holes.
What I did was wire the whole harness outside the guitar, and string fishing line through all the control holes, back out through the F-hole tied to the pots and switch, and snake it in that way. Big PITA, but it worked.

Mine is a '94, Samick I think. Mini pots for me.

I used to have 2 Sheris, but I sold the blonde one. The tobacco sunburst will stay.
