Did the Black Beauty ever have "Black Beauty" on the TRC? The only other one ive seen is on the website that sells all the fakes, otheres have had "Gibson" or "Les Paul Custom" on them.

Sorry to say, but it looks like a fake to me. If you got it from the same guy as Reh, I'd demand your money back, plus shipping.

I would contact him every way you know how.

Tell him you want your money back because its fake, and you would like to do this without filing a grievance with paypal or eBay.

Then I would probably email eBay and tell him he's selling fakes after you get your money back.

Float you may want to look at the first couple of posts in this thread to see why people are saying your guitar is fake. Look at the control knobs on the Amy winehouse picture - see how they are parrallel and a line drawn through them points roughly in the direction of the headstock. A line through yours is not parrallel and is nowhere near pointing to headstock. Also a lot of counterfeits seem to have low grade components such as poor quality toggle switches and non-standard bridges etc. Good luck with getting your money back. Under no circumstances return your guitar before getting money back.

Hi Gazzaboy - let me be the first to welcome you - despite me having only been here myself 2 or 3 days. I'm not sure what the answer is to your question - why not try putting the model name into google images and see what comes up from legitimate sources. At least you've found your way here before you've actually bought something. Others haven't been so lucky - myself included. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people here who I'm sure will help you in a while. Unfortunately I know next to nothing - I'm only here to learn and count myself lucky after a scammer almost put one over on me.

Have a look at the first few posts on this thread as a starting point - I though these were very informative.

hello, the fact is that this item is the OEM products in China,i promise that it is with high quality,you will love it,greetings.

How can these Chinese a-holes even live with themselves? I am going to string him along and make a fool out of him, or until he refuses to respond to me. Obviously he did not give me specific answers to my specific questions.
Only buy vintage, or from a licensed Gibson dealer, these "deals" on the internet for $160. seem too good to be true, and they are. Don't do it, you will be stuck with a good looking piece of crap.

Its a shame, but I dont think Brachy8 hung around long enough to read any of the replies to his post. According to the site stats he posted and then just left - so I dont think he will know that his guitar is fake - he'll assume that the guitar dater proj site proved it wasn't.

I'll try and message him thru eBay to suggest he returns to read the responses.

You can then just put the dollar amount into google along with whatever currency you use and it should tell you the amunt in your local currency.

EPIPHONE LES PAUL BLACK BEAUTY as new with softcase - eBay (item 180331823311 end time Mar-01-09 15:22:25 PST)

Hi all, just bought this second hand from ebay, after a proper set up and new strings it sounds fantastic even compared to a 25th aniversary Gibson Les Paul we have in the building, however, it just dosent feel quite right so sadley after the event I found this wonderfull resorce.

Ok, well the headstock ticks all the good boxes as far as I can see, so does the serial, the controls are a little out of line, the pick guard screw looks too close to the edge, the three way switch looks cheap and nasty and doesnt have Epiphone stamped on it anywhere and the wood under the black paint seems to be white in colour, also theres the TRC with "Les Paul Black Beauty" silk screened on, second opinion?

Ok well this one at least had a happy ending, in no small part thanks to you guys. I believe this was a genuine mistake on the part of the seller and the guitar was a gift she had had for some time and was none the wiser, we came to an amicable agreement and I got to keep the guitar as starter for my 13 year old son, who will be well chuffed, I will how ever make it very clear to him that its a fake! Now I am on the lookout for a real one, trawling through eBay, I reported two sellers for selling obvious fakes, i did come across these two though, what do you think?
