If you can't find at least 3 guitarplayers
who actually want to downgrade their guitars with the G-Farce
and the brass nut.........

Doubtful, IMO the double notch would most likely detrimental to friction regardless of material. A roller nut would have have made way more sense if they wanted to build the best mechanical system.

They don't even design the nuts cut to run each string straight to each tuner. This would have been friction reduction101. :)

I went to guitar center and they had some of the 2015 Gibson guitars. I played the single cut junior and the DC junior special. When I hit the G-force tuner it sounded off to my ear. On the DC guitar I could not get it to work at all. It kept trying to unwind the low E string. The sales guy said they could not get the tuners to work properly most of the time. Are the tuners covered under Gibson lifetime warentee? Did Gibson change the warentee for 2015?

Electronics are only covered for 1 year under the Gibson Warranty. I guess that includes the G-Force.

Aside from the brass nut issue, that document that you linked contains outright lies.

It does. I emailed Gibson and asked about the warranty for G-Force. 1 year.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with the G-Force itself. The 2 or 3 I've tried at stores seemed to work well (maybe I got lucky). But the thing just feels cheap to me, like it's going to break if I look at it funny. So only 1 year warranty on that? No thanks.

That pdf is so full of it. Especially saying the guitar simply will not function as well without the minitune system.

What a pile of steaming crap.

I love the hyping of the 1:40 tuning ratio...as if all those poor fvckers using 1:14 for decades have been hopelessly out of tune. What bullsh!t.

"Older instruments, and instruments that do not have the dove wing headstock, were not built to these dimensions and did not maintain the tight tolerance we do today. Thus the circuit board that allows each tuner to receive power would not fit exactly, and perhaps not at all."
I was kinda guessing already that the brass nut was fitted in order to allow the G FORCE to work more effectively. Not perfectly, but better than using the standard nut. But how about if the G FORCE is in some way responsible for the wider neck as well?
It's almost like someone in Gibson did a deal with the manufacturer of the things and then had to figure out how to actually make it work on their guitars.
"Henry, listen. Great deal with the Min-Etunes. GREAT deal. Just one or two things to iron out but it's gonna be big, Henry. Trust me. Just trust me on this, alright?"

Adding this system requires setting up the instrument to maintain professional performance. It is like going through our final assembly process again.

Then the G-Force is the dumbest thing Gibson could have added to their build process.
What did Leo Fender say, something about "easy to repair, easy to build"?

To ensure proper performance, we have many software parameters which are optimized for a specific guitar model. An older guitar will be different so it will require reprograming the device to optimize for the older guitar. This is not something a user knows how to do.
Nor something they are prepared to share with us. It's like mapping your ECU in your car engine.
And here's the deal on the nut, in black and white:
The older guitars did not have nuts designed for the Gibson G FORCE™ system. We use a nut that is extremely low friction for this remarkable technology to allow fast tuning response without string breakage. While some nuts may be acceptable, you would not know that until after installation. There is no easy way to see this visually.
And best of all:
It is likely a replacement of Gibson G FORCE™ tuners will result in losing sustain, tone and playability of your guitar.
I think I'm going to make that last paragraph my signature. :laugh2:

"Can you remove the Gibson G Force from Current Guitars?"

"the short answer is you can, but the guitar will not perform as well" :laugh2:

Whenever I think I kind of understand what Gibson is doing from a business standpoint, I see something like the PDF and it blows it all out of the water.

I don't own one, but if I did, I would take that abomination out before even plugging the thing. You decide if I count as #2.

Plastic, batteries and tiny motors on the back of the head stock, what could possibly go wrong?
