Hey, guys!

So, I went over to my Grandpa's yesterday to help him clean up a little, and I asked him if he'd be willing to get rid of more of those bizarre, bad ass paintings (you can take a look at the first batch here - http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/backstage/258356-some-weird-paintings-i-got-my-grandpas.html), and he said that that'd be fine.

And here they are!

Different in style from the first batch of paintings, but they're still by the same artist and they're still done in the same painting style. Very out there, but way too kick ass! :dude:

If you're interested in buying one of these paintings, just PM me; highest bidder wins until they're all gone.

Enjoy, you guys! :)

Maybe whoever painted those was an alien abductee? Use that as a story and send pics to the loons at Coast to Coast AM and they'll talk about it on their show and you will be able to sell them for a fortune! :D

Aren't they?

There's sort of a weird story behind the guy that painted them; my Grandpa does the garage sale thing quite frequently, and he went to a cleanout once in the 70's or 80's (I can't remember which). Anyway, this guy's sister was clearing out her brother's stuff because she had just had him committed. She said he was a recluse who never left the house for anything, so she brought him supplies for his paintings and sculptures (of which I have none, unfortunately) and he just painted whatever he felt like.

They seem a lot 'brighter' than the last batch.

They really do; in person they're not that much brighter, but the flash definitely makes them look that way.

The one with the boy, dog and a watermelon is by far the most normal I've seen from this man; still weird, though, but that's what makes them interesting. :dude:

I meant brighter in terms of lighter brighter colours. Less creepy scenes or faces.

Art in general is so weird and subjective.

I don't even like it but I like these!

And bump for a fair bidding process, I want pure competition for my bid......

Absolutely!

Just to let everybody know, this will be the last batch of these paintings, so once they're gone this is the last time I'll be able to sell paintings by this artist. I was lucky to receive this batch and almost didn't ask, so when they're gone they're gone.

I remember the first thread, these ones are a little (only a little!) less sinister but still have the same allure as the others.

What is 'art'? - I really don't know the answer to that. But I feel on more comfortable ground risking some kind of definition of what the difference is between an everyday sketch or painting and something we might consider art.

Put 100 people in a room and ask them to draw or paint something and 99% of their efforts will have little effect on you. That's not to say that they might not be attractive or quaint or well painted but most of the time they wont communicate to you and touch you on the internal level that all art does.

This stuff strikes me as art. Everyone who looks at this stuff gets the 'feeling' off it, it all has a life and legitimacy that is a little disquieting but definitely there. I wouldn't want one in my house but I'd definitely put a couple in a lock box, just in case...............;)

Absolutely could not agree with you more, man. These aren't the 'best' paintings in the world, nor are they the easiest on the eyes, but like you said, if these were in a gallery with other, more normal paintings I guarantee these would leave a lasting impression above all else. It's the same reason that paintings by guys like Dalí and Picasso have stood the test of time so well; they're not pretty, they're not gorgeous, but goddamnit they're beautiful.

These paintings are amateurish at best. They are not beautiful. I would not deign to put them in any category with any artists whose paintings hang in museums and private collections throughout the world. They are Bob Ross high on fart dust is what they are. No more. The mixture of paint, the application is total crap.

I cannot believe they are the same artist as the first round.

Destroy them at once...before anyone else is affected.

That's what's cool about art, though; there's no right and there's no wrong. Sure, these are odd and they might not be on the same level as world-famous art, but eh; they're cool.

Maybe you're just jelly, Frankie. :laugh2: :thumb:
