I assumed that this guitar would have a mahogany body and a maple cap like other models but upon pick up removal, the body appears to be a chambered maple with a mahogany top?!?
Any body else had similar experience?

That's mahogany body wood.
Or to be more accurate "mahogany-like".
Can't tell about the cap, it's been painted or stained inside the cavity.

The body material is the same grain and color as the neck at the joint though? Considering its a maple neck I would of thought the body is maple too?
Why would they stain the cap? Its the same in both pick up cavities.
I could be wrong, it may very well be mahogany! I just thought it was very odd that the cap was so much darker than the body, the body being the same as the neck.

Thankfully no, it looks absolutely nothing like that piece of shit :) hahaha I am confident it is legitimate, which is why I didnt understand the color of the woods. It is made in korea, it has the scarf joint typical of the Korean made ones, although china fakes have scarf joints im 99% sure it is real. It play amazingly and looks like any other ive seen/played. Maybe its just epiphones throw what ever pieces of wood we have lying around to make a guitar type deal haha. Il post pics tomorrow

What is the serial# ?

Checked the serial number through the guitar dater project, this is what it spits out:

Your guitar was made at the
Unsung Plant, Korea
November 2007
Production Number: 1952
Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom Plus Bullseye

The Zakk Wylde model is specified at epiphone's official site as being all mahogany for the body with a maple neck, and to my eyes, it's definitely not a fake.

Yep, it is fine,

at the first pic the binding looked too wide
and had more 'stripes' than it should have

but it is korean - and that explains the inconsistence...

guitarundater can't tell you if it is legit or not....

try this (legit) serial# and you know why

U16081234

Your guitar was made at the
Unsung Plant, Korea
August 2016:wow:
Production Number: 1234

The Korean made Epiphone used Indonesian Mahogany that is now banned from being harvested. Now red wood for fret boards has been banned also.
