We could alter a popular phrase for the cause:

Roman's wasn't built in a day...

:D

I really don't see what the problem is with the time it's taking - you don't NEED the guitar to be finished sooner!

Plus, with updates here it can only serve to rake in more ticket sales leading to more money for the site.

You know.

This site.

The one that without it you wouldn't have anything to moan about it OR anywhere to moan.

I was pondering this today.

I think we make the assumption that everyone knows who DJ is. Maybe many don't?

Vintage Restorations

Do you have any idea what kind of favor his doing this for us right now is? Ask any of the guys waiting for their Historic Makeovers, from initial deposit to when you get your axe back is about a YEAR. No shit.

And DJ is 'first call' for the guys with old wood, that is still his main business.
He isn't just a finisher, he is arguably the best finisher out there right now. He is an artist. Having him finish the MLP guitar is HUGE.

And there is no doubt a DJ finish adds value to the guitar.

For a custom guitar, everyone is jumping through hoops to get it done faster than normal. I'm sure Roman has dropped, or pushed back, other work to get this done. And we should be kissing his boots for the midnight oil he's been burning. Do you think Will doesn't have other pickups he could be building (aka earning a living) instead of custom designing and building a smoking custom pickup just for us?

I mean, :wtf:

is the accounting for it becoming too big a task?

I saw somewhere we have about 10,000 members, hell, I'd like to see this guitar raise $10,000, does Alex need help keeping track of it?

When DJ finishes it, and Greg beats it up, er, I mean, plays it, I can see a surge in ticket sales.

Hi Don!
First off, I would like to thank Don for his excellent case candy contribution! :applause:

When I first started this project I WAS shooting and hoping for 10K.That is not that much between 10K members.

With my own communication lines, I have gotten plenty of new members to this site as well.
I know of a few folks that had joined the forum just to participate in this raffle and possibly win the guitar.

Some may not realize that there WAS an Rist Guitars before MLP.
None of the clients listed on my website came as a result of here. :naughty:

I think we are only at about 3K, I do not have the exact figures.

With apparent lack of support from the management, this seems to have been like pushing a cow up a hill.

I did this project cause this is a home to me in many ways.

I thank ALL you folks here.

I thank All you good people that have donated time services or have bought tickets.

I promise everyone this.

We WILL provide a Great guitar!
We WILL provide a Show for you !
We WILL continue to entertain you with this thread!

More surprises are in store!

oh, if you want to send me a list of names and addresses of anyone that is upset over what they consider a delay, I'd be more than happy to send them a little note.

Heck, I already own the stamp so it's no biggy:

and no, it's not 'Photoshopped'

and I bet you guys thought only Greg would own something like this, right?

He can also shovel horse shit like there's no tomorrow. Come to think of it, I think that's his secret to aging the finishes...putting the guitars in the horse stalls at night and retrieving them in the morning.

That would explain the hoof print on the back of my Lester. :hmm::naughty::D

If you members look at your music collection, I can almost guarantee that Roman, myself, Dave or Will have dealt with at least one artist that you listen to.

that doesn't mean, however, how many will be willing to pay $20 or $30 (or whatever) for a book.

Roman: I'd buy that book, all books about histories of specific items are interesting, You should do a documentary as well.

I just looked at the 1st post in this thread.

This build started on 08-30-2008, 11:18 AM It is now 02-05-2009

That is under 6 months

My average build times are 9 months. Some builders run 18 to 24 months

This is also when I am NOT taking pictures, not documenting, not writing, not answering questions etc.

To Quote MAX,
" We are on the home stretch"

I can't imagine any rational person having a problem with the build, time or otherwise.

I think many would settle down if they knew how many tickets had been sold.

Roman,

I really hope the comments of a few aren't putting a downer on this fantastic project.

The majority of us know how much time, effort, skill and love goes into any of the guitars you work on.

Your contribution to this guitar and the Hunterburst thread has been outstanding,

I'm sure the ticket sales will pick up when we have some more pictures coming in.

Just showing a little appreciation....:applause:

I think this guitar is amazing and the time it takes to build something like this is phenomenal...the only gripe I have is that there aren't enough pics of the masterpiece......I jest.....this is coming along faster than I suspected it would.....the only real problem is that the suspense is killing me......I want to see the finished guitar (when it's done correctly not rushed) and I want to find out that I won it.....this guitar will be the finest whoever wins it owns......I think that the time spent on this is well worth it...especially since the builders still have bills to pay and have to work on projects that generate revenue not just this massive donation of time and materials they are making.....I say kudos to the builders and those who have bought tickets and are waiting patiently for the finished product and winner and to hell with the jackasses who are griping about the time it's taking......they can all go fly a kite in a lightning storm or take a long walk off a short peir......putzes
