Nothing wrong with the inlay really, but maybe there should be a choice.
IMO having commemorative things on guitars is fine. Just don't put them where they can't be hid, changed or replaced easily.
Not everyone wants a permanent anniversary inlay and to do that on every 2014 USA Gibson is silly IMO.
Why not just put it on the back of the headstock, truss rod cover, pickguard cover, etc... Those things can be replaced if not liked by certain consumers.
IMO Gibson has made a poor decision here since this inlay has made it a "NO BUY" in 2014 for those consumers that don't like the inlay.
The no nibs with fretboard binding is another thing a lot will look at as Gibson going cheaper yet prices are not cheaper. Both these changes will cost Gibson a lot of sales in 2014 IMO.
