I have a Boss RV-5 (stereo) reverb pedal, and I am not completely happy with it... not sure why, but, thru spring settings (to my ear, at least) don't sound natural.

I have just started looking, and a few that have been recommended are;

Mad Professor - Silver Spring (haven't played yet}
Strymon - Blue Sky (played a bit today and really liked it)

What other reverb pedals do you like, and why?

Thanks!

Main music played is Blues Rock (Stones, Zep) Neil Young (earlier stuff)

Guitars (see below). Main is the R0
Amp. Cornell Plexi 7, Vox Little Night Train

Here you go, now you can stop looking for the perfect reverb and move on to other pedals. :thumb:

My personnal favorite is the Wampler Faux Spring Reverb.
The Strymon Blue Sky is also really cool, really versatile.

I stayed away from Boss digital pedals for years b/c the buffering on the D/A converters was weak and I didn't like what I heard in bypass.

I settled on an Earthquaker Ghost Echo a few years back and have no regrets. It only does spring sim, no hall or plate, but it's convincing and true bypass. That said, I recently heard a friend's Neunaber Wet and it's a killer, too.

a malekko spring would maybe suit you? i mean, i'm a BIG strymon fan, but if you just like the spring sound then either a malekko or even a Boss 63 reverb would maybe do?

The Malekko Omnicron spring is actual the best spring pedal I have played to date. My Surf Rider Deluxe is pretty awesome too but I still think the omnicron beats it.

Hard to pass up for 140$ new!

I was looking specifically for spring reverb and owned a Hall of Fame, an RV-7, and landed on a Subdecay Spring Theory. One trick pony, but it does spring very well.

Doesnt it have a switch to go from spring to room verb??

It does, but I hear some modulation in the room setting, almost like a slight chorus effect. Might be a phasing issue, or maybe I'm just hearing things. It's minor, but that setting doesn't sound very natural to me.

I have a Boss FRV-1 in the loop of my Ceriatone Dumble clone - and I love it :thumb:
If the knobs are kept at moderate levels, I find the sounds very authentic. You don't get spring clatter when you kick the thing, but that can hardly be expected :D

I was using a TC Electronic Arena Reverb.
And it has alot of bells and whistles but I like Spring Reverb and this setting on this pedal was just not doing it for me. At best it was just fair.
I picked up a used early edition Wampler Faux Reverb here in the classifieds.
It is exactly what I was missing and needing.
I play blues and classic rock.
... I retired the Arena .
