Where in NorCal are you? I could restore it.

All the basics are there and it doesn't seem like it would need a new neck. Looks like good bones.

Of anyone in Northern Cali that can restore a F%&@*ed up Les Paul....Mr. Rist can. Between him and some of the other pro luthiers i've seen on here they always inspire me to try and learn.

I'm in Dixon, near UC Davis.

As I mentioned above, the biggest issue is that the binding channel on the neck has been sawn off. I'm not down with a bound body and no neck bindi g even though it's just aesthetics.

Roman: I'll give you a call and we can see if this is worth pursuing.

You can also see the base of the headstock has been cut up as well on the bass side. Let me know what you think but keep in mind that the more I disclose how roached it is, the harder it will be to stick some poor sap with it in the classified section.

ETA: Sarcasm.

I REALLY hope you forgot to use purple here and this is sarcasm.

If not that's a really scummy, and thoroughly dishonest approach...

Sorry. Now with purple sarcasm.

Most of the guys here are straight shooters is why I brought it up.
I know there have been issues with dishonest sellers in the past on MLP.

I apologize If that came across in an accusatory tone.

Dude, he said it out loud. Here. The section that anybody who'd buy a project guitar would read. :hmm:

Dude dig around.
There have been a couple of real shit birds in the past that Fvcked several people here without courtesy of a reach around....

And there are more than a fair share of Oxygen stealing, hanger dodgers out there That would take your money without disclosure.

Not everyone that is a member here reads every sub-forum, or is seasoned in the guitar game either so slow your roll, take a deep breath and let the butt hurt pass

I think there was a bit of "tongue in cheek" going on there. I wouldn't jump in the ballbusting wagon over it.

The bottom line is the guitar IS a MESS. It CAN be restored, at what cost however? Cost in terms of time, labor. and money. It seems to be a labor of love and the quest to save a guitar. as the restoration costs would most likely never be returned upon resale.

So the bottom line is that the guitar needs to be in the hands of someone that wants to properly save it, whether that be the OP and current owner, or a new owner.

The 94... Serial number is unique to 1994, the 100th year for the company.

Just for reference....here is the only LPC done in this finish. Guitar porn.

I think the BBB finish could be recreated with some diligence. It would take a deep blue for color with a prism metallic mid-coat and then a LOT of clear. I don't believe Tom had anything much to do with the 93 BBB standards (as referenced in that Ebay ad) that were produced other than being there. There were 30 BBB standards produced in 1991 that I know he had nothing to do with. He used the last of the paint from that run to do this LPC

^ Well, its a good way to find out. I too was once unaware of this particular anomaly until a similar thread popped up.
