Hey guys! So ive posted a lot of threads on here regarding my story, and the steps Ive taken towards a guitar that I love. And now im posting some pics of the insides so maybe you guys can help me identify whats in it? Like can you tell by the wires if they are just stock Epiphones? Heres some snaps of the back and whats inside. Is it possible to identify what kind of pickups are in the guitar? Or should i post pics of the the back of the pickups as well? And what about the soldering job? And which wires are the ones to the pickups?

Its because im currently running my Les Paul into a Marshall SL5, and it SHOULD sound great. But cranked, it actually sounds kind of fizzy. It has that "broken speaker" fuzz. And i know it shouldnt sound like that. So I wanna know if maybe its my pickups or not. So I can either swap em out for some Gibsons, and take my amp to get repaired.

Thanks guys!:slash:

If you need more pics let me know. Ill try and do a string change today and get some snaps of the back of the pickups.

And to add, I dont know if it has anything to do with it, but recently the Treble knob was pushed in to my amp. To where its broken and can be turned all around instead of just going from 1 to 10. Not trying to make this an amp question, but if my guitar is fine, then i think i know what the problem is.

Thanks! :slash:

The wiring is not stock, looks like you have a push/pull pot for the neck tone in there, and I do not think the pups are either. Unless the previous owner pulled the covers and got extremely lucky with what was underneath, of course. I'd pull the pups to take a look at the backs and see if there's any indication of what they are.

If you have a broken treble pot on your amp, that could cause a problem also. I'd test your guitar with another amp to be sure. But you really have to determine what you have in that guitar before going any further.

WOW I had NO IDEA there was a push pull knob on the neck. This entire time lol. Ok cool! Then lemme go ahead and post some pics a little later of the back of the pickups. But thanks! So then so far, as far as hardware is concerned with pots, caps, etc., everything looks good?

The pots for the bridge P/U appear to still be stock. It looks like they modded for the neck only, probably for coil split. We'll wait until you post picks of the bottom of the base plates on your P/U's and get your amp repaired.

The Elitist came with Noble pots in them and are considered to be good pots. Your caps are stock too.

Other than the push/pull, the pots look to be stock. The caps could do with replacement though. I don't have any idea what that push/pull is configured for, however. It could be a coil split or to throw the pup out of phase. Give it a try and see what it does. If it seems not to move, that could be part of your problem. I'm really curious as to what those pups turn out to be!

what the guys said, plus I think I see push back/braided going to the bridge and plastic going to the neck, so I'm inclined to believe the bridge pup is a replacement.

Yeah, OK, the pups are not your problem. :D

Thanks Barcham!

And I see that the bridge is a SH1? So thats like the tone youd get from a 59? Or thats what Im reading correct me if Im wrong. The fact that they are not high output has nothing to do with not sounding good with high gain right? Thats my amp?

That's not a bad P/U combo at all. I've used both. They're moderate output and as Rob said, not the problem.
