Dude I've been waiting for anyone to post about them, down here they don't sell them and every time I've been to the US since they came out I haven't been able to find them in stores to test drive.

Where did you buy her?

I did post pics, but more importantly, clip.

They are nice guitars, Indonesian made.

The pickups do a nice approximation of both P90 and humbucker sound.

The neck has an inverse heel to allow higher access.

The bridge is also the tailpiece - sustain? Holy merde! Only two holes in the body.

The models with visible grain are solid ash while the opaque ones are mahogany...so much for tone wood.

The next model the 55, has a third position in the pickup mode selector switch to allow both P90 and humbucker, whereas the 33 is either or. The difference is utilizing an extra conductor in the pickup configuration - 3 wire versus 4. So it is not merely a question of changing switches.
The 77 model is hollow.

The body is curved, which I suspect adds to the poor center of gravity. But the idea was to allow for a guitar that was made to fit your belly rather than a belly cut in the guitar.

On the cheap side, the neck is "grafted" onto the body, i.e. no tenon type construction. The shielding paint in the cavities is that matte black garbage so prevalent with knocks offs.

The thing has SEVERE neck dive.
So much so that Vox came out with "Strap Button Extender" to place a strap button on the horn rather than on the back. It does help quite a lot, not a complete cure.

Looks nice. I love the (advertised) versatility of the pickups and love the aesthetics, will have to try one next time I go on vacation. Where did you buy it? Online or in a store?

Well than I question your ears because the pickups are not soppused to give an approximation of a p90 and humbucker. In the 33, they give an approximation of a single coil and P90. So what you think sounds like a p90 is really the single coil sound and what you think sounds like a humbucker is really the p90 sound. Hence, the reason why everyone should take all of these opinions with a grain of salt. Not to pick on you, You're not the only one who thinks they know what a single coil, p90 and humbucker sound like.

VOX CoAxe Pickup System; Live from NAMM - YouTube!

"We wanted to continue our quest for a multi-sound pickup that was cost efficient to build, yet had very convincing single-coil, P-90 and humbucking sounds that are entirely noise-free," Lasner states. "Using the P-90-style footprint as a starting point, Eric set about developing a two-coil concentric and coaxial pickup using a magnetised central coil, surrounded by a secondary coil outside of the magnetic field."

In fact, guitar pictures are a travesty against the Guitar Gods.
Can you imagine Clapton posting here with a - "Hey guys, check out my new guitar!" followed by a ton of pictures?

So, where do you really stand on pictures of guitars? Hehe... :naughty::cool:

If only I could plainly state my opinion and not waffle about so much, eh?
:)

Plainly stating your opinion is cool... I was more confused that, after plainly stating your opinion, you then started a thread and did exactly what you claim to abhor? Clapton would surely not be amused!!! :) :jam:

BTW, I own a 33 in blond and I think the guitar is well put together but the pickups are not to my liking. In fact it looks so nice haning from the wall that I pick it up hoping that maybe this time I'll like the sounds it makes but I end up putting it back on the wall in a few minutes and pick up my cheap EBMM Axis copy with a 59" PAF copy in it.

If anyone wants an absolute mint Vox SDC 33 (with soft case that has less than an hour playing on it for $350 shipped to you, let me know.

Still offering?
They have been going up in price and I found lowering the pickups as far as possible worked wonders.
