Umm now you really got me thinking about a trem pedal!
I am surprised that no one has suggested a particular wah wah or a fuzz (someone mentioned fuzz i think)

I didn't even notice you didn't have a wah! how'd you make it this far in life ;)

I got my wah for $20 off CL... *just* a standard crybaby... but I'm kinda looking at the 535Q now. even the 535Q is only like $40 on ebay.

$40 and less, I'll pretty much buy a pedal and figure out later how much I "needed" it or not ;)

as for fuzz... I do recommend a muff-type fuzz... but I love stuff like the white stripes and black keys, and they use the muff with a heavy blues sound...

I always have tremolo on. It's usually turned so low that only another guitarist would notice. To everyone else, it sounds like "sustain" from my skillful fingers. :)

*lol*

I've started doing that too! When playing through my Bluesbreaker, I patch the channels and set up a subtle tremolo. Since it's only one of the two channels, it sits nice and subtle in the mix: sounds great! I blame Joe Bonamassa ...

For the OP, as others have said, a TC PolyTune (white!) is nigh-on essential; I find I use my Phase 90 (sorry, Orange!) way more than I thought I would and a Bad Monkey (yay - Green!) can happily handle Gain, Volume or indeed Low/High frequency boost duties. None are terribly expensive, even new.

On the other hand, I have a lovely hand-painted green ZVex Fuzz Factory but I have to admit that was a bit of an extravagance. :)

As to the Phaser, ummm, might not be a bad idea, seems to pop up a lot. Maybe I am just not observant enough, but I don't ever recall hearing a phaser (at least not in the songs I listen to)?

I used to use a Phaser + Tremolo for the intro to "Dakota" by Stereophonics: sounds killer. Then I started kicking the Phaser in for the solo in "Don't Stop Me Now". But my band doesn't play either of those anymore. Nowadays, I just kick it in to highlight a solo or for when I want a wah-like sound but can't be bothered to move my foot around. ;)

You must start with a tuner. You cannot be considered a responsible, gigging musician without one.

After that, see above for further recommendations.

But get a tuner now!

Wow, I did a search on the Joyo tuner and discovered there's a whole line of affordable Joyo pedals.

+1 on all the tuner posts.

I own a pitchblack, and have never regretted picking it up.

Chrorus's Phaser's and Flanger's are some great pedals, but are to be used sparingly. I've gone this far without using them, and don't really miss them.

But a tuner should be in the near future for ya, it's the #1 tip to sound good. RESPECT THE HZ!!!!

I can't say they are ALL good... But I have 4 so far, and they have been as good as any other major mfg brand I've had...

You tube search for "joyo us dream vs suhr riot" or "joyo crunch distortion vs mi crunch box" " ultimate drive vs OCD ...

Idk if they are a match to your ears, but they are close enough con spidering the price, for mine...

I've listened to a number of Youtube demos of different Joyo models and they all sound pretty good to me - they all say they're "true bypass" as well. The difference in cost is so dramatic it's hard not to want to at least try a few of them before throwing down three or four times more for the more established brands. Do you happen to have the Joyo JF-17 Extreme Metal? I'm curious about how effective the separate boost channel is.

I don't have the extreme metal... it's supposed to be a clone of a metal muff, though...

I have the american sound(tech 21 blonde) and it's pretty cool for getting all the fender sounds you could want... but I pretty much only use it on a tweed setting with full drive, for a neil young type sound... no doubt the formula 5 is better, but is it 3x better? because it's 3x the cost

I have the britsh sound (tech 21 british) all marshall, all the time, but I like the JTM/ blues breaker setting... very cool in it's own right... I need to play with it more(it's my most recent one)

I have the ultimate drive(OCD clone) and it has pretty much replaced my tubescreamer and every other OD pedal(except my red llama)... I love it through an already overdriven amp.

and the tuner is top notch... I wouldn't blame someone for getting a poly-tuner like the korg pitchblack poly or polytune... but for a straight up chromatic tuner... it's great for the $

I plan to add the us dream, crunch and flanger... at a minimum

Yes, the Joyo American and British pedals both look good. I like that there are three tone controls. The one dial I haven't quite figured out is "Voice". How would you describe what it does?

Voice is the character knob on the tech 21...
It basically changes what amp the pedal is emulating....

On the American, from left to right is shades of silverface and blackface, then blond(in the middle) and then tweed...

Brit is the same way... Blues breaker, JTM, plexi, jcm800.... Etc

The pedals also have speaker simulation to match, and can go direct to the mixer, but I haven't used them that way.. Yet ;)

The tech 21 manuals are pretty dead on, btw... Joyo needs to make the Oxford, and us steel :)

Sending a pm, batman... Why are you selling?

2 pedals I bought in the past month while re-building my gear setup that you might want to check out:

MXR Black Label Chorus - very nice sounding chorus regardless of the Zakk Wylde heavy metal labeling - has a lot of adjustability and I was able to quickly get the chorus effect I like (which is kind of like Metallica "Sanitarium" sound).

MXR Carbon Copy - nice simple delay. My first delay. I wanted something simple and nice sounding to add a little slapback or slight ambience. This doesn't have tap tempo so probably not great for doing U2 style mega delay but for a nice depth of tone effect I think it's great.

and +1 to all on the Korg Pitch Black recommendations - I got one for $60 new on Amazon and it's great.

For the other side of that delay.. A longer, digital delay, I thank everyone who recommended the echo park... I dig it

Thanks, this helps. Sounds like you're running the Joyo American and British pedals into an amp - which amp do you use? I have a Fender Frontman 212R (solid state) which has a good clean channel. I would think these "amp modeling" pedals would work well with it.

Listening to youtube demos I'm liking the American, British, AC Tone and California. Not sure how to narrow it down yet :)
