It's Full HD and it looks very nice, almost as nice as the Blu-Ray in the living room, except for the YouTube compression. I have a feeling they're gonna block it for copyright.

Is it old fashioned of me to suggest that you might try buying the DVD? They aren't that expensive... :)

I was at this show in near the front row....my brother in law works for the rock hall. I had to step back a bit after Metalica really started to dig in..was one of the louder events I have been to in the last few years.

The banjo string thing is what guys did way back before there were light gauge strings available: put the banjo string on the top E, then put the guitar E string on as the B, the B string on as the G, etc & throw away the low E.

Once light gauge strings became easy to buy, no-one did that anymore, because there was no point.

Page uses EBs, and has used .008s, .009s, and even .010s at times (he refers to .010s as "heavier gauge" :laugh2: ) but he is mostly associated with .008s. He has always been vocal in his praise of light strings, and it's a big part of his sound.

Where can you get 008s? I've been using the Super Slinkys (009s) for decades and have never seen 008s. Looked specifically for the on the EB rack at long and McQuade the other weekend and they weren't there.

does anyone here actually use 8s? I like using heavier strings because I tune at the start of the gig, and rarely have to tune again after that!:hmm:

Yeah, i use 008s a lot. they are the prime strings for my ibanez and rotate them with 009 for my strat. i keep 010 on my 78 LP for a fatter tone, but my 68 pizzles me. It is one of those Fretless Wonders thus making it hard to bend with thicker strings. usually i have 009 on there, but 008 would probably be even better. oh well. anyone out there use 012 or 013 reguarly. I have a music teacher friend who has them on a 175 - and have always wondered how the neck can take the presssure
