Been playing my 74 standard a lot as of late and really like the the sound of my t-top in in it, they might be my favorite pup. I had one in a PRS years ago and it was a major improvement. My 02 R8 has 57's and for 8 years they have been great. picked up a 67-74 stickered t top from CL for a 100.00 and was wondering how low output would sound in the neck of the R8. seems the 57's have been sounding a bit ragged and ratty to me, so thought these might be a bit more glassy. So anyone ever try it?

I have not...but I'd imagine a low output T-Top would sound outstanding in the neck of an R8. If you have the soldering skills...10 minute swap and give it a whirl. Report back if you do!

That is why I was asking, it seems like it should be a common mod. But I saw nothing lots on PAF's ,holmes, seths, anties etc. Seems they should be killer, cheaper than a PAF, easier to find than a holmes , better than most modern pups. Considering Page had one in his #1 after 71 0r 72 you'd think some zep-phile would have tried it.

I've done it in the neck of a Warren Haynes sig (R8/R9)
Early 65/66 T-Top 7,34kOhm.
Together with a vintage PAF 7,65kOhm in the bridge
and old Sprague Black Beauty caps.
I like getting the old look and tone (played a '56 Goldtop 1968-1971)
At least for the guitar, LOL.

No, never tried that.

Just a word of advice, might want to edit your thread title. "Puta" is a not so nice Spanish word.

So I can assume the Tees were a much better than the stock pups( Burst buckers?)

NO.

I think "better" is the wrong term here.
Just different and for myself i like it this way.
Not to forget that each PUP, each guitar and also each player is different.

Try it and tell us if you like it!

I have a 1979 T-Top at the bridge of my 2008 R8, and I find it fantastic. It is uncovered and although I have to have it closer in relation to my neck pickup to the strings, it sounds great....

As a massive Page fan, I have wanted to do this for ages, and now I have and I won't be reverting!

Any questions, feel free to ask.

I like them even as a bridge pickup. They are very detailed, punchy and lively. They have really great 70s tone, i prefer them much to any current Gibson pickups.

Quacky, is the way I would describe the tone.
