Glad you'll be getting your guitars back, HB, and I hope you and your family can put this behind you as a cautionary tale of how bad things can get before they're better.

I stand in awe of you, having the cash to buy all of them back at once. If something happened to my guitars, I wouldn't have the cash to buy them back, even at cost, but then we're single income here so my wife can take care of my daughter and son, who has special needs.

I hope it all continues to work out for you.

my son sold it for very little money, it was the person my son sold it to that made a huge profit when he sold it to GC

Congrats on getting your '56 back..

It's a shame your son effectively got fleeced by somebody too. Bad enough he stole your guitar(s) and sold it for drug money, but for someone to pile on to his problem is a pretty sad indictment of society. Charlie Freak played out for real, minus the ending; which hopefully will turn out differently for your son. Though I guess there's a lesson in there somewhere.

I truly hope that things work out for you and yours.....

No, the Guitar Center couldn't treat it as a refund because it wasn't a refund, nor could he take the loss. The GC bought the guitar and has to recoup their loss. They have accountants and legalities to deal with as well. GC didn't profit from this at all. I can tell you when Colin spoke with me directly, I mentioned that the positives they would gain would be better press than they could pay for. He said it was more about doing the right thing than any future profits, he was a musician as well. As for undoing the deal....this whole procedure took QUITE a bit to unravel in order for things to work out the way they did, lots of issues that can remain between GC and HB, but I can tell you it took a lot of time, and a lot of effort to resolve. Personally, I'm glad it resolved...and thanks to Guitar Center for restoring a bit of faith in doing the right thing. All HB wanted was the chance to buy back his guitars at cost, this was done. GC lived up to what their VP in the video mentioned in this thread, about integrity and ethics. In the end, GC is not the bad guy here. They bought the guitar, found out it was stolen and allowed HB to get it back at cost, which is all that HB was asking. I wish HB was able to get the ES-446 back as well, but overall the cost would have been prohibitive. Guitar Center of Hallandale, and Colin....thanks for the proper end result in this.

Kudos to the folks at GC for stepping up and make this happen. We all know GC did not have to do it but they did the right thing in front of 71,000+ musicians here in MLP. GC now earned the respect and reputation from us and who knows? They may have just earned new customers and their old customers back by doing this. I will pledge to buy my next set of guitar strings from GC, ... ok maybe a pedal, ... alright, maybe a guitar or amp or whatever that may be because GC deserves it.

And to HB, I truly believe that you did the right thing for your son. As a parent of 3 myself, it hurts me to see what has happened to your son and things that you and your wife had to go through. You had choices. You could have send your son to jail and get all your guitars back but then you would have lost your son forever. Guitars come and go but families are meant to be together. I respect your decision to take personal responsibility by taking the loss and give your son a professional help. I pray and hope that everything will work out for your son and your family.

Since you now have reunited with with your #1, when is the reunion party? Are we all invited? :laugh2: Just kidding.

Hope you enjoy your time with your #1.
