...The Houston pics demonstrate he played one of the two red Les Pauls on that tour...

Well, I can't make it out from those photos. The cutaway binding isn't clear enough for me to see it well, so I can't decide which one it might be.

My gut reaction is that it would be the "real #3", a guitar that we know JP likes, having used it for many years. The 1977 guitar appears to have disappeared into the vault after Oakland, which makes me think that he didn't take to it so much.

But that is opinion, not fact.

The receipt that Michael Corby has for the guitar he sold Page is dated Dec 1974, so if the 1977 guitar really is the Corby guitar (and that's just one possibility for that guitar) then it would have been in his possession at the time of the 75 US tour, and that would have been his first chance to try it out on stage. So it's a possibility.

Interesting that the guitar is on #2s strap, suggesting that perhaps there was a problem with #2 and they had drafted in the red guitar to cover? Again, just speculation, just thinking aloud...

Has anyone ever seen the other red guitar besides the western US part of the 77 tour?

I have never seen any pictures of page playing a red guitar besides seattle, and oakland, I have kinda hypothesized that maybe while work was getting done the the real #3 (cough cough arp pickup cough) they probably just threw something together until #3 was done

just a thought, no actual proof or reason

My US geography is shakey - where is Ohio?

Does Jimmy make a little mistake at the intro to the solo at 2:45? Sounds a little clumsy and I didn't notice it at the theatre.

I think it sounds cool as hell.

It seems he took a step back to hammer the solo entry that much harder.

Hard to say if it's intentional or not but I prefer to see it as a wilful improvisational technique.

Can you guys make out the amp and pedals being used here?

For that period the Tone Bender & Vox Wah (grey one) are basically a given. You can just about make them out on the floor.

The amp is harder - it doesn't looks like any of the Vox or Rickenbakers that I would have expected.
