Hey GNR4EVR any news from Gibson land? Thanks to this thread I'm looking at les pauls on ebay or anywhere with different eyes, I feel that little bit more educated on what to look for. I just found this new seller on ebay; eBay My World - snowpeaprincess no doubt they're fakes but so far I think I've been lucky? but only time will tell, come-on Gibson with that reply...

Dont worry about yours, its legit, I checked a few guitars in a local gibson / epi retailer yesterday.

Also Id be surprised if he gets a reply, for all gibson know he could be a fakemaker trying to keep up with serial no printing.

I usually dont have too much trouble with Gibson writing back, but havent heard anything yet this time. I sent the question to sales, will try support this time.

I figured it out. First two digits are year, next two digits are day, the rest are production number for that month.

I sent him a message demanding my money back. He was very quick and responsive. Told me the guitar is being shipped from china and that he'd refund me my money after I ship it back to him at his location in the US. Got in a small argument on how I insulted him and called him a liar and what not. But we agreed to stop arguing and get this resolved. He did not confirm or deny that what he was selling was fake and avoided the issue altogether.

So here's the twist. He was able to stop the shipment and I got my refund immediately. Then about an hour later, he found out the guitar was still gonna be shipped to me. So in good faith, I got his US address and will ship him back the guitar and get the shipping refunded.

Just checked my ebay and it seems the guy I bought my fake epiphone from is no longer a registered user. I ended up giving Gibson the link to the original advert and it looks like they took action!

At least thats another one off of ebay, although who knows how long for...

ive been looking on this forum and on ebay, and i think that Bill_qd guy has got a new name, happybusinessman. its a person selling multiple les pauls from birmingham using pretty much the same wording. he even says 'have a nice day' at the bottom, thats not exactly a well-used phrase on ebay. anyways im looking at buying this one: EPIPHONE les Paul Trans. Blue ***NEW*** on eBay, also Epiphone, Electric, Guitars, Musical Instruments (end time 13-Dec-08 17:29:51 GMT)

Looks to be genuine, but not enough pics to make that call. And why are the TRC screws backed out?
