I want to see what you guys think on this one. I can get it pretty dang cheap, around $250 for this sh*tstorm of an SG Custom. However, I think it could be a GREAT, yet difficult restoration! I love restorations and challenges so I'm not too concerned about that, unless you guys think its way too far gone?
First of all, I need confirmation that its real. I am not great with verifying authenticity on customs so I could use a little help.
EDIT: Don't all customs besides the new CC ones come with ebony boards??
And now the sellers description of all the issues:
This is the strangest project I have seen, says Gibson on it-who knows ?, it is all Mahogany, green refin, Rosewood fretboard, routed for 3 humbuckers, routed for Kahler, has 5 knobs, 3 mini switches, the pots and back plate and locking nut are there-no other parts on it, has a Roland GK-2A on it, had Grovers on it, the paint is so thick-it looks like some kind of paint that expands ?, you can see by the tuners it looks like a 1/8" thick of paint !!!, may have had breaks-cracks-repairs, too hard to tell with this weird paint, some binding is missing on the upper part of the bass side of the neck too, it is a kind of cool project-but extremely strange, it will be sold as is, overall it is in fair condition, no case-will bubble wrap and box well for safe shipping.
Now to me, the headstock looks funky (especially the split diamond) but the terrible refin would account for why there's no serial number or anything like that...also, what worries me is that the seller (presumably an auction house) is not SURE whether or not its an authentic Gibson. Also, the neck angle doesn't look right to me but it could be just from the bad angle of the picture.
Thanks all in advance!!
