A bit more work...

...the neck is properly joined once the clamps are off. I trim the sides to fit and sand a little. Additionally, I drill the other main holes by hand.

A quick test fit – everything lines up and the bridge will be a good height.

How about a French Polish Barn? :naughty:

benjy getraer

*EDIT* My bad, stickers are much better. :D

Better a French maid than a French polish...:naughty:

sounds nice. That top is a little too nice to cover up.

Hey Barnaby do you think it's time for a side by side pic of all your builds?:naughty:

I wish I could...two have gone off into the void and this one will soon follow. Still, maybe I'll grab a snap with the Loveshark and Ruby once it's strung up. :D

That's it.
I declare you a...

P.S. Like I have an authority... But I hope I'll be supported in this endeavor :fingersx:

That brings back memories of my misspent youth bouncing around in white pajamas. Twenty years I spent yelling my lungs out and punching the air like a crazy person. I doubt I could do even a couple of pushups on my knuckles these days.

^ you got my vote

I see boobie!!!:wow:

Dools

Have to say...this gif mesmerized me briefly. Only two or three hours, however...

Indeed! I have been thinking about this all day. Plans are afoot!

And yours, my friend! :applause:

did i said any of your buildings, you scared me?
:lol::dude:

Hah! Pot calling the kettle black there - I wish I had an ounce of your talent. :dude:

...a small, photo-free update.

Today was spent getting things ready for the gluing of the neck tomorrow afternoon after work (if all goes to plan). First off, I repaired a couple of side dots that had been bothering me by drilling, filling and redoing. Then, I spent some quality time on the neck, shaping as much as I thought appropriate before fitting takes place. After that, I planed the headstock to the correct width. I had been keeping about 5mm on there to absorb dings and knocks. I simply used the gramil to mark the line and set to with a block plane.

There are no photos because the guitar looks basically the same as before. I know some of you might complain, however, so here's a hot Japanese girl to placate you. Nothing too risque, as I don't want to upset the moderators...:D

One final joyous point...

...I checked the weight of body and neck together and they come to 6.19lb, with about 3mm to come off the back and some serious wood removal for the upper fret access. My thought is that it will be very close to 6lb when all done, which means that, with parts, we will be looking at an eight-pounder!

About to head overseas for a few weeks, so no time to write much with packing and everything. Finally, however, the neck is glued into place…

Thanks, man. I really appreciate the kind words. It's great to see you back, although I hope we don't suck away too much of your time...

I made it through maybe 20 seconds. You tricked me! here I thought the Spice girls actually did a metal song or two. But after the intro there was NO kicking it into high gear.

Thanks, man. I really appreciate the kind words.

Hey man, no BS, I like what you do.

Okay - I am getting on a plane in a couple of hours, so decided to do some last work before heading OS for three weeks. A few days on the Gold Coast with my brother, then off to New Zealand with my lovely wife. I'll be back on the 15th of September. Here's this morning's work! :thumb:

With the neck set, the back carve is sketched on...

BackCarve1.jpg

…and carved with a router plane and chisel. This is why the tenon was cut the way it was, making sure that there is plenty of wood underneath.

Then, the back is planed.

After this, there is lots of sanding, including adding a radius to the edge and, finally, the Drama Queen emerges as a guitar! Of course, there is more to do, but the grunt work is now finished with the exception of the ledge for the backplate.

Finally, a quick family photo…see the resemblance?

LovesharkandDramaQueen.jpg

After all of this sanding, the Drama Queen comes in at 5.95lb. A tiny bit more will probably come off once the final sanding and scraping is done, as well as cutting the ledge for the backplate, but not much. I am expecting the finished guitar now to be cheerfully under 8lb, which is a very nice weight for gigs.

Beautiful... really stunning!

although, the line on the access carve looks like it could be a little straighter... besides for that, very, very clean!!

Great work!! (it would have to be for Roman to like it:naughty:)

Cheers!

Yeah, the access carve will be cleaned up in the final sanding. I only had time to rough it in. I haven't even been able to string this up, although, if I had more time today, I could be playing the first chords...oh well!

I think router plane should be banned. It makes everything so easy.
:naughty:
(Ok, just my envious side talking. I'd kill for a router plane. :D)
