Pretty good. How ya doin' TD?
Good to hear, keep on playing boy, I know you got it in you!!!!!!!

You're right. He seems to have an aversion to computers.
GTF, I dislike all those bands as much as Nickleback. Here is the thing, and it's simple, maybe Nickleback has a decent sound a chicks, but their music is just the same thing over and over and over. And I don't get the impression they have any respect for their fans. Dave and Co. adores the fans. I can tell just how much they appreciate the people who buy their albums and go see them, and I can also tell how much they appreciate other artists. Really, the Foo Fighters are more musical. Their songs and lyrics are better.
It's like, Dave will throw out a song like Halo or Breakout. You will never hear anything that catchy from Nickleback, ever.
I put my energy into hating Nickleback because they made rock LESS cool. They are the poser douchebags I'd probably wind up getting my ass kicked by in a barfight, but I'd be glad I got into it. Suddenly older people and dumb women who don't know they're being put down have some hard rock to listen to again after that bullshit got stamped out by the greatness that was bands like Nirvana. Eff me...
I didn't mean it in a bad way, Dave's got a knack for writing a great rock song with enough of a pop flare or "safeness" to get it played on the radio. It's one of the reasons that he found massive success with the Foos in the first place, it's a hard line to tow and one many bands fail at, he didn't.
I'm not disputing that Dave puts on a great show, but anything I've seen tells me that Nickelback does too. There's a reason they consistently sell out arenas in a time period where rock artists, old and new, are subjected to amphitheaters and clubs. Nickelback and The Foo Fighters are both arena rock acts, and why? Because they have Rock and Mainstream appeal, they're geniuses for being able to find the balance and being able to take advantage of it.
I wouldn't be so quick to label Nickelback "shite like Ke$ha and Bieber", there's something for everybody in this big musical cloud. I fvcking hate Jack White with a burning passion, and I feel he's a pretentious, untalented hack. But you like him and his music, and that's fine. Plenty to go around, the world's not going to end because I don't like him.
I like some of Nickelback's stuff, is it all great? No, but are they the 'worst rock band ever' like they get the tag for? Absolutely not, IMO all these bands deserve that tag more than Nickelback.
3 Doors Down - You want to talk about all your songs sounding the same? 3 Doors Down wrote "Here Without You" years back and they've been re-writing it with new words ever since.
Seether
Saliva
Brokencyde
Motionless in White
Rev Theory
Theory of a Deadman - The most boring, paint by the numbers rock band out there, IMO.
Hinder
Staind
Saving Abel
Again, just my opinion. Those bands have their fans, I'm not one, and they don't need me to be - it's whatever. Those bands will continue to sell CDs and play shows, and all my huffing and puffing won't change that - but the rabid haters of Nickelback seem to think that their hate of the band is going to change things. Like I said they're hardly the greatest Rock band in the world, but I think some people just hate them because it's the "in" thing to do. It's popular to hate Nickelback, but whatever. I just don't get the energy some people put into hating them, seems counter-productive.
I suppose that's true, Dave and the Boys seem genuine about it, and that's cool I guess. I don't know if Nickelback does or not, I've heard stories about Kroeger being an ass, but I don't care too much. It doesn't really affect me personally as to which band puts more heart and compassion into it, my favorite band is the band that'll slap their faces on condoms and caskeets for God's sake!
Maybe they did, but that just means somebody will have to come around and make it more cool again, if that's the way you see it. I'd imagine you feel the same way the Thrash Metal guys did in the 80's, when they got to play clubs while bands like Poison got to play arenas and stadiums. Every band has made some genre less cool according to somebody, and every band has made some genre more cool according to somebody, beauty is in the eye of the beholder......so to speak.![]()
Sabbath/Iommi tuned down to C#....
that's about all I have to contribute to this thread.![]()
Nickelback sucks and jack white can play like a MoFo.
You do know that the first Sabbath album which is the archetype/beginning of heavy music was played in E.
I'll take that as a no.
Now your position makes complete sense.
Screamin' Jay Hawkins wore makeup,...so did Alice Cooper,...and I'm sure there were others I don't know about.
KISS weren't original in that regard.
Slipknot has an image that works with the band. They've won like 20 awards, tour non-stop, and my guess would be that they make a ton of money.
They're doing something right.
btw, I'm not a Slipknot fan at all,...just sayin'
Isn't that the case with Paranoid as well (played in E)?

Whatever. I still think they look like dumbasses. I dont like the music either. I think I associate them with the likes of Korn and I have hated Korn from the beginning.
Good to hear, keep on playing boy, I know you got it in you!!!!!!!
That's a huge insult to Slipknot, associating them with Korn
It's true though, both were real popular around that Nu-Metal time, mixing Rap with Rock. Only difference is Slipknot evolved, while anything recent I've heard from Korn sounds like the same thing they've been releasing forever. Refuse to evolve and grow and you get left behind, meanwhile Slipknot just headlined Download a few years back. Music's a weird world eh?![]()
I might be wrong but it was the first few albums that were done in standard tuning. 1 1/2 down started on Master of Reality.
And this is different from Nickelback how?
Serious question, not trying to be an ass.
Did somebody say "badass, underrated down-tuned Sabbath song?"
