Yup, I missed the reference to the Sunburst - different - color in your first post.

Apologies.

No apology required. I certainly took no offense at your post.

It is very confusing as the facts are dotted about in several threads both here and over at the LPF.

I was hoping that by presenting just the facts we have so far that this would encourage a plausible explanation from the seller.

At this moment in time this has not been forthcoming. The response from the seller, at this time, for his own reasons, is that he is not prepared to provide this explanation.

I hope that over time this will change. I will certainly welcome any explanation, provided it is backed up with facts.

Please do not attack any individuals & this thread is to be informative. Also Rod had asked me to post his response here as well.

I am leaving this thread up since Rod (scatterbrane) asked for me to post his letter for his side. So it will stay up but understand that calling him names and accusing him of a crime is something we will not tolerate and please refer to our rules. If anybody continues to do this your post will be removed and a warning issued for you to stop that. Still refuse and you will be banned for 7 days.

This is a good lesson for all to understand that when you are buying a high ticket item to investigate the authenticity of the item before money exchanges hands.

If there is any "investigation" needed on a purchase I'd just as soon pass.

Fortunately I don't need any more gear.

CAVEAT EMPTOR
The axiom or principle in commerce that the buyer alone is responsible for assessing the quality of a purchase before buying.

[From Latin caveat ēmptor, let the buyer beware : caveat, third person sing. present subjunctive of cavēre, to beware + ēmptor, buyer.]

well said that man! I have no involvement and feel for everybody involved, these things happen from time to time with all innocence and of course we live in a greedy world and sometimes they happen with guilt but I for one cannot throw blame , call anyone names or any such thing. This a thing which should be resolved behind closed doors and not in the public gaze.
I feel sad for ALL the parties involved in this and hope it finds a pleasant and correct conclusion. I don't think that any off us except those involved have a right to discuss this,
I hope this is resolved quickly and without pain to anyone!
It's sad when something like this happens here as naively I consider a whole bunch of people I've never met to be mates, call me naive if you wish but I love this place

i disagree. i think we all have the right to discuss this, especially when ebay auctions are currently still up. i think people should have the right to all of the available information if they so choose to look for it. given the nature of the member in question and his exceptional reputation (and I do mean that), i think anyone who is a member here and/or considering his auctions/pickups.etc should be aware of any alleged event. i do not believe in casting premature judgment, but i might wait to make a purchase until all is resolved. and if, and it is an IF, things have gone south, this should not be just swept quietly under the rug so that the next ignorant buyer pays thru the nose.

And by the indivdual-in-question's participation in sales and informational contributions to members of this forum, he has made it a fair topic of discussion- especially with a seemingly murky transaction from earlier this year.

As i said before, i hope there is an explanation with no malice intended. i have personally enjoyed the content of the posts and the immense knowledge of the individual-in-question. i hope that all ends well for all parties involved.

agreed I just don't think anyone not directly involved has a right accuse people of this that or anything else and then blasting them on a forum based on hearsay. We can discuss whatever we want and that is the real beauty of this place for all involved but it always upsets me when people start on each other.
Please don't get me wrong and perhaps my post was a bit misleading, as I said I don't think there is any need for people to call anyone names.
I am not defending anyone or anything except this forum.
I for one would like to wait until there is a conclusion and then we can either offer to support to an injured party if someone has been deceived try to help them in whatever way we collectively can. If it all turns out ok then some people may have to eat a bit of humble pie. I hope Delaware Gold gets a satisfactory conclusion, for him personally and for all of us as well.
So I agree with you, hope this is now clear and sorry for any misunderstanding,

Has anyone considered if this "incident" had not been caught early? What if YOU were the guy who bought guitar X from seller Y stating it was a Z and you have it for a few years and the prices jump on the Z guitar and you decide to sell it or get it appraised and find out it's not legit.... not cool. not cool at all. Perhaps legal action was directed at your for fraud and you had to backtrack and show the chain of ownership. Maybe by the time that fateful day came you can't find seller X. Something to think long and hard about.

Still I would like to know more about how this person came to possess two rare guitars that just happened to have the same SN. I'm not calling anyone a liar, thief or crook yet. I just think that it would be appropriate to explain the situation.

I'm not involved in this issue directly but I did just purchase a very expensive BZ R9 LP on ebay, it's at my house waiting for me to get home from the road and check her out and it causes me to pause and wonder, did I get the real deal. So in an indirect way this thread effects me too.
