This is really strange!

Thomann in Germany raised their prices on VOS R8 plain top from 3400$ to 4250$!!!
And the R9 went from 5300$ to 6650$.
So they lost their status being cheaper alternative to Luthman Scandinavia.

And luthman droped their prices 30% so they are now sold at the same price as thomanns guitars.

1 year ago Thomann sold the VOS appetite guitars 2000$ cheaper then the Swedish stores.

How did this happend?
Its a over night turnaround!

Prices are going to rise on everything soon. Just a matter of time. Guess they heard they won't be getting 2012 r9's.

Are you sure? I just checked Thomnann's page and the R4-R8 range is still at €3199.

EDIT: when looking at the Swedish page on Thomann's website, the price is €3444 (30005.66 SEK). That's probably due to a different VAT between Sweden and Holland.

Just a guess - could have something to do with the US/Euro exchange rate.

Doubtfull, it hasn't changed with 30%.

Checked a 12 month index for dollar vs euro vs kronor and its almost the same as last year this month.

A couple of weeks ago the R8´s were 24000skr and they are now over 30000
I got my R8 with a not so plain top for 21000skr/3000$ 10 months ago! :thumb:

The Dirty lemon R9 I wanted to buy was 37000skr/5285$ and similar guitars are now 46400skr/6628$:!wow:

I need to import my stuff from US if this doesent change soon.

Btw the Celestion Greenbacks are now 20% cheaper in my local store that used to be expensive as hell compared to Thomann.

How much is VAT in Sweden? Another factor could be the SEK/EUR rate, is it fixed or floating?

ALL Gibson prices went up a few months ago. So dealer cost is now higher. The dealer cost and MAP pricing had been the same for about the last 4-5 years.

The funny part is that the thread is 10+ years old!
