It would be cool if you could upload tabs via GP5 or something similar, and then track music over it. Then you could learn anything.

A bit more input from me, to expand on what I said yesterday.

A few years ago, I stated on several forums that this was the direction I could see games like this moving. People doubted. Then Rock Band came out with the Squier controller and Pro mode. (Which I have... as a guitar, it's cheesy (but works) as a controller, it's great... more attention to the fretwork is dreadfully needed though.)

I picked my Rocksmith up yesterday for Xbox.

So far, I really like it. I can see it becoming a great tool, and here's why.

I've always struggled with sensing where I am on the fretboard, even what string I'm picking or fretting, unless I'm able to see it. I often fret one string, and pick another! I'm fairly fumble-fingered when it comes to fast passages, and have some limited mobility in my fretting hand. By needing to watch the screen, it forces me not to do what I'm used to...look where I'm playing.

I don't know how accurately it senses string bending, but that's another thing I've always struggled with... getting the right pitch. If it tracks well, it should help in that area as well.

Chords.. yep, I've always struggled with those too, because of my fumble-fingered-ness. More than a couple chord changes? Forget it... I haven't delved into that area of the game yet, but I know it's there.
Don't know if there's a scale "tutor" but I hope so. I've NEVER been able to memorize scales.

As someone who gets frustrated after a while of fumbling around and not being able to memorize the board, I can see the interaction being very useful since I love games. I can see it being an AWESOME tool for improving dexterity and memory.

On thing I am slightly disappointed by is that there's no on-line multiplayer. I also wish there was a note drop-out feature similar to rock Band, or if it were obvious when I'm playing a wrong note.

I say: BUY IT. These games are starting to die off, just when they are making leaps and bounds in the technology and teaching aspects. They are no longer the stupid pushabutton games of Guitar Hero. If it doesn't sell well, games like this will probably die off completely.

Yep in Guitarcade there's a game for chords scales tremoling and just abouth everything you need its pretty entertaining im 52nd for tremoloing on xbox its good because it forces you to change strings to get better score, and with chords your getting attacked by zombies :laugh2: and you have to hit the right chord to kill them with turrets you hit the wrong chord they'll attack you and it'll keep giving you the same chord until you get it.:thumb:

BTW, I have CONFIRMED

That the Cable for the Xbox will work when plugged into a PC and used with something like Guitar Rig or Amplitube. I was running XP on that particular PC, loaded drivers no problem. Win7 also loads drivers, but I have not tried it yet.

There's some sort of Free version of Amplitube, by the way....

On my Mac, it automatically shows up as "Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter". Just for grins, I fired up Garageband it it works great with that. I also fired the Amplitude Fender LE software that came with the Mustang Amps and it works with that as well.

Awesome vid!

Okay guys - haven't played the game yet, but here's a concern that maybe some of you could reply to.

It looked like for the verses, the game has you playing on just one string at a time, probably to simplify things for beginners so that they don't have to switch strings.

Just googled Slither tab, and found this:

Pre-verse, Verse (PM)
|--------------------------------
|--------------------------------
|----------------5---------------
|-----5---5-6--5---5-7---5-----5-
|-5-8---5--------------8---5-8---
|--------------------------------

Guitar 2 (pre-verse)
|-----------------8----------------
|------7------8-9---8-10----8------
|-7-10---7-10------------10---7-10-
|----------------------------------
|----------------------------------
|----------------------------------

So is the game teaching you a bad way to learn a new song (by only staying on one string)?

I assume that since it's just "listening" for the correct note, you could play the note the game wants on another string, but visually I think this would be confusing. I will probably be a player who will find a song on the game, then pull the tab up on my laptop so I can compare both lol.

[I just pulled the first tab above that I found, so maybe playing everything on one string is the more correct way, but in my playing experience I kinda doubt it.]

Thanks!!

You're playing in "single note mode" ...and probably overthinking it.

Yes, you can fool the game. A5 is A5 - it doesn't care where you play it. ...but neither does your audience in real life so who cares?

No, the game is teaching it to you in a genius way unlike what a teacher could. Land the one string 100% and it adds the second string. See my comment below about the pixies song.

If you already know how to play it, just play both strings. It will still count as 100%.

Either way, I've already put about 6 hours into the game and almost every song is already at the "medium" tier of difficulty. They are all now containing full powerchords, all strings, etc.

I woke up this morning and knew how to play the Pixies "Where is my mind?" near perfectly without the game. (I've almost maxed out the difficulty on this song). To be honest, I don't know how to play ANY song front to back near perfectly. It started with one string, and about 12 games later it's near full blown entire song and difficultly.

There is a list of fixes I would like to see for the game that I'm creating to post on the RS boards, but I have no complaints about how the dynamic learning system works.

I like some of the stuff on rs that I have never heard taddy porter mean bitch, I just like that song, Sort of reminds me of jet. I hope the dlc's will bring some more rocking kind of stuff like ac/dc, gnr, aerosmith, rage against the machine. Using some of the greats from GH would be awesome!

Beware of the solo :S

Can't say you didn't warn me!:laugh2:

Seriously, though, thanks for posting. I can't wait to get my copy in the mail (Monday, hopefully) from Amazon and get playing. It looks like fun, though it also looks like it will be difficult for me to figure out exactly what it is asking me to play based on your video. I was getting confused on why there are some lines showing up when others are just "x."

There's a lot planned for the future of Rocksmith. (I've even heard rumors of a bass version of it)

An X on the note to play means to mute it right away. A regular note means let it ring for a short moment. A long string behind it means let it sustain throughout the strings length.

Played a couple songs last night, and I'm getting some noticeable audio lag. I hear the guitar itself, then a split second later, it comes through the TV. I've got the Xbox hooked to the TV using component cables. Any idea how to fix this?
