sorry to complain, but Ive been playing guitar close to a year now, and I've been saving up to buy a real Gibson Les Paul. My dad doesnt play guitar at all, he has never even tried to play, and he goes out and drops 4k on a 06 les paul cherry burst then brags to me about it, he wont let me play it, and I Want to buy mine with my money, no help from him.

This really pisses me off, because it will just sit there and gather dust :/

Heres the pics he sent me this morning:

why do you want a "real" gibson if you've got a 59 replica?

because its one my grandpa made me, and it really doesnt sound right, or feel right in my hands, and I love the way the real ones feel over this one

Smells like something's spoiled in here. Would someone please crack a couple of windows?

Im spoiled? Cause when I said I have to pay for it without help from him, I said that because, If I dont pay for it myself I wont feel right owning it, I want to pay for it all myself without anyones help

It sounded like you were more bitter because you felt as though he owed you...at least that's how your complaints came across.

And if he payed 4k for that, he got massively ripped off. :laugh2:

Hahaha, thats funny that he got ripped off. (not trying to be rude) because he bragged to me about it, which is pretty messed up bragging to your son because he cant afford something

I bet if it this happened to some one else, you could see the humor in it.

Since anger is really never constructive, if you wanted, you could just focus on how funny this is. Imagine it taking place in some goofy sit com...

but I can understand because my first response would have been the same. Then I would start thinking "WTF that is just crazy"... and then I would realize how funny this could be telling to other people with the right demeanor...

a Jakie Gleason look would work great:

"and then he did..."

...ehhh we all have emotional responses and no one can trigger them as well as family...

I do not know but immediate emotional responses tend to be overwhelmingly focused inward but none the less to be healthy one should put situations into a larger perspective...

also, we do not know how much weight is give a particular incident due to past experinces...

but, I just think it is funny...

i would so do this to my sons.

granted i would give him the guitar at xmass, if he practiced regularly and was progressing.

but yea, i'd leave it right there for him stare at everyday as "motivation".

i love your dad, he's like me.

Maybe I am getting it for christmas, who knows? It would be cool if he did, I really really doubt that he will though, but there is always that chance
