This isn't a finish for LP (thank God!) but lovely none the less!

Looks like the paint shelf in the garage fell on it. Is that a custom paint job? Or available from Gibson when the shop guys were stoned? I know you expected something from the peanut gallery or you wouldn't have posted it here under this particular topic, and I know you like it, or you wouldn't own it, but can I ask why? What was the inspiration?

Hmm.. Dunno.. It kinda grows on ya. It's different, and from what I can tell in the pic, looks like it was done with some thought believe it or not. Looks well ballanced, instead of just someone going crazy with paints. I wouldn't own it, but do kinda like it (whatever that means, lol)

It does grow on, but so do warts! LOL. Seriously, though, a lot of thought DID go into this, but I think the application was probably a lot more "abstract". Have you ever seen those guys paint? They'll stare at the canvas for hours, then literally through paint at it. Let it run as it may. It was definately done with a thought in mind though, I just don't know what the thought was!

hahha.. I was gonna add the "wart" comment, but didn't want to offend, lol. But yeah, I seen some of the art, and even tho not my thing, still kind of amazes me how some of it turns out. As far as thought, I seen allot of the abstract stuff just look a mess, and kind of disturbing, but other's even those it was abstract, looks like there was "some" kind of order of paints, colors, and placement was used. I think that the case here, so it looks kinda like organized chaos, ya know, kinda an "intensional accident" hahha..

Not big into that sort of stuff, but still kinda like it.

When I was a kid, a buddy of mine had a Magnatone Strat knockoff with three p90-type pups. We took it apart, sanded it, and refinished it with a white basecoat followed up by misting blue, red, purple, and yellow shot from Krylon cans with partially blocked nozzles so that the spray came out in irregular droplets.

It was very cool, like a Jackson Pollack painting, and I still have in mind getting a Carvin kit and doing it up that way.

Well, move over, I'll ride on your bandwagon too. Gold Top just doesn't do anything for me either.
Tom Scholz would probably dissagree, but the Goldtop, doesn't do it for me either.

How about the addition of not just ugly finishes, but actual ugly guitars?

This should get the ball rolling... :applause:

There was a Custon "Van Halen Guitar" on Ebay about 5 years ago.
Modeled after the "VH Logo" on the 1st album.
It was pretty beat up and I think the guy was asking $2400.00

It's so wrong it's right. Lol, I just can't get over the orange and the marshall. Bad mix, if you ask me :l

I don't get why so many of you guys are against the Marshall head and Orange cab setup. :hmm:

A Vintage Modern, closed back cab, loaded with Vintage 30s? Sound good to me. And Orange makes fantastic cabs.

it was done my me acutally. there is a method to it as well so your right, its not as simple as just dump the paint on it and walk away. ive always been an art fan and liked to paint and draw. i enjoy swirl painting because you have control, but the end result is always up to gravity. i enjoy painting pedals as well, heres one of my favs that ive done.

Absolutely Tonefreak! As Tudorp said, "organized chaos". It's obvious a lot goes into making a guitar look like that, and art is in the eye of those who see it as art. I'd just prefer seeing it on canvas, not a guitar. But, like I said, you wouldn't have put it here if you didn't anticipate some comments. Keep it up though. If you like it, who cares what anyone says. Hell, maybe Clapton will commission something. He's had some freaky stuff too!

I take what I say back about silverburst now that I saw those. The ones in my local shops look awful but those with the white binding look really cool.
