yeah and so far, im still hunting for a tremelo... would it this fit in a dinky?

Genuine Ibanez Edge III Black Tremolo Bridge BR-1153 - eBay (item 280607919070 end time Dec-31-10 08:29:53 PST)

or this which matches the routing better, plus its a rearloader

Ibanez Licensed by Floyd Rose Tremolo System BR-1139 - eBay (item 300507698426 end time Dec-29-10 17:22:16 PST)

or should i go with a OEM part?

Jackson JT580LP Low Profile Floyd Rose Tremolo BR-1060 - eBay (item 300508298925 end time Jan-01-11 10:29:59 PST)

Oops, you can probably also fit a real Floyd in that rout as well.

would that licensed ibanez fix? or should i just go fro the GFS speedloader one?

otherwise it will be the GFS brass n steel, unless they somehow learned how to paint zinc blocks with a bronze finish XS

You don't need locking tuners if you're gonna put a locking nut on it.
It won't hurt, but I don't see how it could help...

The routs on the imports varied over the years; to be safe, I'd go with either an OFR or the Schaller version. When it comes to locking trems, this isn't an area you want to cheap out on.

Also, don't bother with locking tuners; the locking nut takes them out of the equation.

I echo the above sentiment. Nothing worse that struggling with intonation all
the time. By going with the OEM, you should have better luck. At least stick
with something recommended for the guitar as opposed to the Ibanez. Good luck.

im going with this:
NEW!!! BLACK Super Heavy Duty Floyd Rose trem- BRASS & STEEL!

seems like a better choice, plus i wont have to worry about exact post spacing ^^
well i had a bad experince with the stock tuners on the dinky as at the time when i bought it i had no experince with stringing a floyd rose equipped guitar, so im going locking tuners to make it quicker and well easier to string up every time (i can load from the ball end at the tuners now that i think of it with this setup, put the string end into the tremelo, lock it, pull string taut, lock that, and well im set to go)

i should be ordering parts over this week once i get to my mom for the other half of cash i need for this build.

go for a real floyd rose...The Ibanez is great but may need a little tweaking of the body to fit. Stay away from Jackson licensed Floyd's.....a real nightmare, the knifeedge is shit and it wont hold tune in the long run unless it absolutely perfectly setup which it wont be 90% of the time...

thats the problem i had with the orginal, somone who had it before me (purchased at a pawn shop for about 200 i think, yeah shoot me im putting about the same amount of cash that i bought it for..) whammied th shit out of it and the damned thing was a nasty mess... and i think im sticking with this FR, others suggested the gotoh trems, but im on a tight budget here, the money is spilt evenly between my cash and the money my mom will put into it, and this is without a setup which im going to try myself...the GFS one im going for looks exactly like the gotoh units too.

Right off the bat, the one im looking at (GFS) has one side notched for a bridge post/stud..while the other side is wide open. This is so it fits a wide range of guitars but you lose the tight fit and stability...Ive been in the market for a couple of floyds for a few projects of mine and the choices have been pretty slim. The problem is the import versions have a cast steel plate instead of being machined...hopefully this GFS one will work well.

* WD Music Products - GOTOH® FLOYD ROSE® LIC. BRIDGE BLACK

the gotoh one, looks exactly like the GFS, cept it actually looks cheaper, just one top photo o3o

yes but the gotohs are a little closer to Floyds being that I believe theyre machined as well...also you need to realize...there are different grades of steel and brass. A piece being cast may have imperfections coming out of a mold which would then need to be cleaned up by hand..things such as the knife edge may not be perfect and may need filing...the real issue is the area where the studs meet the bridge..even an uneven coat of paint can **** it up. Try it out..you got nothing to lose...if it works, it works! If it doesnt...you can tweak it or hardtail it.

im not a heavy floyd user, just using it when its songs that require it, otherwise i would hardtail it in a second, but i prefer to be clapton and put all the springs in like i did to my SE... i prefer a stiff tremolo bar feel

Trust me,
you wont be happy with a cheap FR.
I would use nothing but a Schaller or original FR.
The rest SOUNDS crap, too.

Don't let these guys bug you. I'm the same, i cant afford to shop stewmac or such. You can still build a great guitar with GFS parts, it'll just take a little more work. Take your time and dont cheat on the bridge alignment.

yeah, checking out stewmac they have a floyd rose and well damn it it looks even better than the GFS, brass studs and block and a R4 nut (will that work with a bound jackson neck? it is the same width as a R3) and now if i order from stewmac i can also buy a wiring kit to go with the pots an stuff from mojo tone.

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges...Tremolo.html?read=reviews&tab=Details#reviews

and at about 5 dollars more for than the GFS one, i think i can afoord that. o3o
