I have a great amp (Sewell Wampus Cat) but have been using a Fender outboard reverb. I would really like to just carry one amp and plug straight in, but playing without reverb is new to me. Do you use reverb? How do you get a full sound without it?

i do use a little reverb on my clean channels and the slightly overdriven channels......if your used to the reverb your gonna miss it no matter what u try to do so my suggestion is to get a reverb pedal for your gigs.

Find yourself a reverb pedal that suits your taste and emulates what your most used to... or try a nice delay... :D

I use reverb sometimes to get that spacey sound.

I also use delay for a lot of stuff as well. Delay is possibly my favorite pedal.

I like reverb, espicially because if I am playing, it fills up the empty space when moving around. Sounds better.

I like a little. But a good tube amp will sound full without it, good tube amps and ones with open back cabs. do project sound with a nice 3D quality to the sound , when playing out ,the room should add a touch of it any how. If ya get a pedal make sure ya get one with a ture bypass, or the tone is going to get sucked out of the guitar with the pedal shut off. IMO:)

Not only that dude, but delay makes everything sound EPIC if you know how to play with it and get your pedal set-up properly.

As a Fender owner ( DRRI and formerly a BluesDeVille additionally) I like to play with reverb, not much, just a little bit ...
At first when I've bought a Little Giant Head I wasn't quite happy with the sound although I must say - when holding the tones with fingers pressed on the strings it had also a certain lingering sound ...
So I've purchased an EH Holy Grail pedal ... now I have that sound what I love most and what I was after ...
If you're missing the reverb badly ... go for an effects pedal !!!

i like using the spring reverb in my amp, on everything i play, i put in a lil bit to give it a nice acoustic feel in the clean channel, on distortion, i have it off or almost off with just a hint of it.

a few pedals by boss gives a nice ambient sound to it, i've only started doing this recently on several riffs, it adds nice creepy accent to the sound.

Don't like it - never use it. When I was younger, I liked reverb - I thought it made my sound 'thicker', but today, I find it just sounds mushy to my ears. I prefer the crisp, no reverb sound. If I want to thicken up the sound these days, I add a small amount of analog delay, usually around 200-250ms. Much more pleasing to my ears.

On my MG100DFX I had it on 3 all the time just to smooth out the sound of the amp and in recording it makes it seem less sharp and more like its an old amp sound mic'd up. (which I like)

Sometimes in filler riffs I'll use more.

I don'y use reverb any more thou cos my new amps reverb sounds bad.

reverb sounds good at low volume but
at high volume it kind of gets lost

I don't use reverb because I like hearing all the wrong notes in their full glory. :applause:

Bro ... so you really mean that I'm too young and it'll change when I'll be old enough???? :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

YES I know it quite well by now ... many things are sounding 'mushy' then ...

No, I don't. I use a Fulltone Tube Tape Echo, and it does the job nicely to get an Eric Johnson-y kind of vibe.

If I need reverb I have the sound man add a touch at the board.

I don't sweat reverb much anymore. I love the "natural reverb" that you get in some certain rooms, garages, stages, halls etc. I just don't really prefer it simulated. Its almost like the notes shimmer nicely at first, and then melt away into a puddle of nothing. I much prefer delay as an effect.
