I have a 2007 R7 and I'm still afraid to get a scratch. I honestly don't enjoy playing it as much as my beat up Epiphone.

How do others out there treat their reissues (or any expensive guitar)? At this rate I'll never get mine "road worn".

Carefully, but not obsessively so. I leave it out, let the cats play it and use it as a fort, the usual.

I'm just as careful not to further damage my 50-year-old guitars as I am my '92 and R8.

They're my prized possessions. But they're my prized musical instrument possessions. They need playing.

I sexually harass them, yell at them, give them drugs and boozes, keep them locked away in the basement.... Pretty normal actually:laugh2:

When I first get a guitar, I clean it thoroughly and set it up. After that I only clean the neck and fret board when changing strings. I have a hard time worrying about keeping it pristine because if I do, I won't have fun. If it was a PRS, I'd be careful. Maybe that's why I never owned on. Hmm.

I play it. I take care of it, but I certainly don't obsess over scratches and dings.

They're guitars. I play the hell out of them, just like any other guitar I have ever owned. I've never bought one to hang on the wall as an ornament or place in a display case like a museum piece. Unless you're both a player and a collector. Then I'd suppose you have guitars that you play and those that you look at.

I play the crap out of it, gig it, and treat it just like any other guitar.

It isn't a piece of art - its a guitar. You're not going to break it just by playing it.

Scratches and dings are a fact of life.

I got one to dote on and treat nicely and one to abuse...... Oh... you mean the guitars?

The guitars aren't cheap and I don't like abusing stuff that I worked hard for. My CR8 is almost too pretty to abuse but does get played.... However, the R7 gold top received a dent in the side from my spoon wielding 11 month son. After this small injury I no longer worry about keeping it perfect. It now has a few more handling marks in it and I don't even think about it anymore.

I play it all the time, and don't obsess much...it's an expensive guitar, but nevertheless, it's a guitar!

When it's not being played, the it sits in it's case, though...no leaning against amps etc for me :)
