We have MANY of these around here ; One of the biggest in the country is coming up near us. We have a farm with about 100 Acres in Indiana and the National Muzzle loading assoc. has a shoot twice a year. June and September. IT is always the second full week. The entire area becomaes a HUGE flea market and garage sale. I would say a good 4-5 acres of stuff!!!

IT goes for about two weeks. I look forward to is every year. There are ALwAYS guys with huge lots of bottles. I always pass them up.. went through that phase in collecting about 30 years ago... Well I am about to revisit it! I will be looking and if I find more than one I will keep you guys in mind. Honestly!!
I'm officially jealous; that is a GREAT way to spend the day, checking out other folks' old treasures! I have a feeling you might just walk away with a couple fine slides!
I just got call from a glassblower up in Seattle in response to my email campaign; very cool cat, even took the time to listen to my music some before calling. I have a repro stored away somewhere, and I'm going to weigh my original and the repro, hopefully today, and report back to him on the weight difference. All else being equal between the repro and the original, it's gonna come down to the additives used in bottle manufacturing back in the day. Different substances were added to the glass to give it color, AND...this is my suspicion...lead (Pb) was often used to make the glass easier to work with; this would give it more density...
If you have an original, or a repro, and access to a fine-grain scale, feel free to weigh and photograph that lil bugger; the larger the survey sample, the better the data. Good times.
