I am planning on buying an authentic epi my self pretty soon, I would only be using the neck pickuo really cause I dont like distortion.

Hello. I have an e-bay special and I am starting to doubt its authenticity. Any help would be appreciated. Yeah I know the scratched serial makes it almost obvious.

I would say that points to it being stolen TBH, I dont know of any other reason someone would try and get rid of a serial number.

Just my opinion though.

I think it's legit. They sure messed up that cutaway, though.

The auction described it as scratched, not destroyed. But why would they be so careful to cover just the numbers on a guitar of such low value? I was thinking maybe a factory reject, or even a fake made to look like it once had a legit serial. Thanks for your help.

from what's been on ebay australia lately i would say this one look's fake,but wait for shifty he will give you the verdict you want!,ask the guy selling for a photo of rear headstock with serial no that will help!

Called Gibson and they told me LP100 was real deal, couldn't say for sure about LP STD-emailed some pics, waiting for reply. Thought I would post and see what you guys thought in the mean time. Oh yeah. I've played two or three of them. Came out about the same time as those Epi PRS copies with the ebonol fretboard. Like I said, "I didn't say a great li'l guitar, just not bad".
Shifty, I still find it hard to believe that English isn't your first language. I entered the 1st grade reading on a 9th grade level, and I swear your English is better than mine. "Trefflichsten" (this had better translate to "most excellent")!
