How to achieve weight loss? Burn more calories then you take in.

How to do that? Either eat less calories, exercise more or preferably both.

Little note: Eating vitamins wont boost your metabolism to superhuman levels...

correct, eating vitamins wont boost your metabolism to superhuman levels. they can however aid in the rate at which you metabolize fat. Taking vitamins alone will more than likley do little to nothing for someone trying to lose weight. Paired with a healthy diet and regular exercise they can give you a little edge on fat loss.

With taking suppliments and vitamins to aid in weight loss i look at it sort of like hopping up a guitar. You can add 10 different upgrades, each in itself might only do a very small part in the over all tone improvment, and when you do just one by it self you dont notice much. When you have the collective result of all of them together you can hear a difference. The same goes for weight loss. There are a lot of little pieces to the puzzle when all put together can have a larger impact.

ive had good results so far with my diet/exercise plan. i do cardio twice a day, eat healthy and do light resistance training. i take selected vitamins to aid in the fat loss, along with a few other natural suppliments. no stimulats other than caffeine. ive lost over 40lbs in less than 2 months.

i'm unemployed living on £64 a week to heat my home and feed me and my two boys at the weekend, so i starve myself 3 days a week and crack one off three times a day, does that count as a low calorie intake
and a high exercize plan..:hmm:

My diet is simple. When you drink your dinner 5 nights a week, it's not that hard to stay slim....:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

You just cant beat excercise however you get your fix, for shifting poundage.

Just back from 2 days solid kiting, I can visibly see the weight loss, its quite amazing!

Mind you 7 hours of almost constant pull on your arms neck stomach pectorals per day :D

A bit of a warm up: :D

Probably exercise and better eating are the chief factors in weight loss and any benefit from vitamins is icing on the cake......mmmm cake... er, yeah.

I run 16-18 miles a day, plus weight lifting 3-4 days a week. Been lifting weights and running since I was a kid. (the 80's) Eat clean, stay away from alcohol and junk food. Although I tend to drop it down to 14 miles a day in the heat. Took a four year lay off from 2003-2007 then got back into it.

Some races are more genetically inclined to gain fat and muscle. Everyone on my moms side is Indian (Cherokee) and tend to be bigger, everyone on my dads side is white and a bit smaller. I have to really watch what I eat, I gain weight allot faster then the next guy and an alarming rate.

Have to know how your body works in order to loose weight. Low carb/high protein dieting doesn’t work for me since I run and lift weights. You need complex carbs for sustaining energy and simple carbs for quick release energy. Though I do eat allot of protein around 180 grams a day, I consume around 300 grams of carbs or more a day. Such as oatmeal, pinto beans, navy beans and simple carbs such as hard candy like Life Savers in the middle of a run if I didn’t eat enough and feel like im going to pass out.

Peanut butter mixed with honey is a good source of protein, carbs and fiber. Honey is for taste.

This is what I usually eat…

Bowl of oatmeal with a chopped up apple or peaches and some equal
Wait an hour and a half and run
Come back drink some water then have an egg protein shake mixed with milk.
Wait an hour and lift weights and calisthenics (depends on what group of muscles im working out, if im doing bench presses on that day I wont run. I like to have the extra energy. I had one incident that almost killed me ten years ago)
Then have a whey protein shake with milk
Later on 3-4 eggs with some cheese for a snack
Then a salad for another snack
Then for dinner a bowl of beans
Then for late night snake, half a block of cheese and ten tea spoon fulls of peanut butter.
I drink lots of water through out the day.

I cheat every now and then buying a candy bar.

I’ll be very blunt… Vitamins, over the counter diet pills, caffeine, ephedra (yes you can still get it/grow it, just not going to find it in a "health food store") amino acids, (certain amino acids can do different things such as helping in repairing muscle tissue or using fat as energy) synthetic testosterone, different forms of steroids and estrogen blockers for fighting against the side effects, it can all be a waste of time and money if you don’t lay down a good foundation. Then you get into chemistry and pharmacy after that if one chooses too.

Its a pretty simple calorific equation, innit?
Most people think everything is intake and expenditure, and its not. If you do not fuel your body with the right amount of calories or have been starving it you will not drop fat mass. You can not develop enough work (because of being under nourished) to burn a substantial amount of fat.

You need to provide the right amount of calories, if you go short you will not hit your goals, if you are long you will not meet your goals.

Some of my 1 hour workouts (when Im in shape) I burn somewhere close to about 850-1200 calories, now if I only ate 1800 calories and tried working out like that I would be at a serious deficit.

So a guy my size and weight I burn 1800 calories per day not doing anything. Just sitting

so that is the calories to allow me to breath pump my blood move my crap have sex, whatever else. Out of that your brain needs approx 800 calories on its own (which is all glucose)

so for me when Im trying to recompose my body, I eat about 2800-3000 cals per day and if I my body fat isnt dropping I adjust 200 calories per day for 2 weeks before I do anything else.

The biggest thing is to workout harder, not eat less. In most case you will rebuild the lost muscle and go up in weight and require more food.

Another little tid bit fact for you. Muscle weighs twice as much and requires half the space of FAT

IMHO, vitamins tend to be a huge waste of money. You end up eliminating MOST of the vitamins when you pee. Vitamins and other supplements are hard to metabolize. The best way to get your required vitamins is to eat a balanced diet. Weight loss is usually a simple equation, as has been stated already, burn more calories than you take in. That's what I think.

For a non training member of society yes, if you are training hard like an athlete (which you should be because you life is depending on it) you will use the vitamins and what your body doesnt will be excreted.

I personally use a big multi and thats it, but I take between 10-15 different supps through out the day when I am really dialed in

The peeing out the vitamins thing is true for most people eating 2000+ calories of real food... BUT, I found out the hard way that on a restricted diet (1500 calories in my case), you really do start to become deficient. After two days on that diet I started feeling dizzy and disoriented. Even the next day after taking a vitamin, I felt fine. I can tell I'm not pissing them out because my pee isn't neon yellow like it is when you take them on a higher calorie diet.

Another thing to keep an eye on with reduced calories is your electrolytes. Most multivitamins contain little to no potassium (because overdosing on that stuff is a nightmare, and you normally get enough through food). So eating half a banana or so a day is probably a good idea. :thumb:
