I was reading about a guitar purchase in another thread...and it got me to thinkin'...

Does magic exist? Are there things in this world which by their nature...elevate the human spirit, ward off agents that have bad intentions towards a person? Make things happen that couldn't otherwise?

It's hard to say...and yeah....a term like "magic" could have a very wide definition.

So...what about stuff like this?

Holding your newborn child when he or she first came into the world?

Hearing a song that stirs something in the depth of your soul? Playing something that opens you up?

Seeing an eagle or great bird take flight? Or watching wild horses run at full speed?

Is there something you own that you've had your whole life, and is treasured? Why is this?

So....

For those of a cynical nature....open your eyes, unplug your ears just for a few moments....

IS there such a thing as magic? Or is this world as cold and clinical as naysayers would like to argue?

Magic, is real. I fear the television. It flickers in a sinister way. There are evil spirits in it and they talk to me sometimes in a way that only I can hear. The TV people say I am to do bad things. They say things like sell your LP the Strat sounds better. They are evil magic dooers.

I don't know about magic per se, but I've seen things that I couldn't explain away very easily.

My reckoning is that there is so much that we as humans do not yet understand, or have little understanding of, these things appear as magic?

Way back in the dawn of human history some of what we could not understand we called magic. Humans still do not understand everything so I do think magic does exist to some extent.

Exactly my thoughts, just like fire was magic back in the day. :thumb:

The things you describe are wonderful, but not 'magical' in a supernatural sense.

From my view

It all really dates back to the mystery schools of both ancient Egypt and Babylon with their Kabbalistic writtings. The ancients had access to both sides of science both esoteric secrets and exoteric sciences. The development was use of knowlege through spiritual alchemy. The life force esoteric secrets of the universe on many levels of awareness and existence (Egypt being only called egypt under the Greeks) it has had several names depending on who had invaded and was in power.

Today modern "societies" have access to a lot of the esoteric but usually practise on a very morally degraded dogma than was orginally held by the ancient brotherhoods.

Look them up

Bingo.

As Arthur C Clarke put it:
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

No, I do not believe in real magic. But I CAN make a crayon disappear and my daughter used to think it was magic :)

Any sophisticated enough technology is undistinguishable from magic (was said earlier, but)
