I was listening to it yesterday and, once again, I was pleasantly shocked with the incredible energy and tone of the whole thing. Amazing.

Mr. Claton really played amazingly... probably like never before or after.

Do you love it too?

Do you know some unique trivia about it?

Have you managed to get an identical tone to Clapton's with your gear?

Have you got any musical passage in the album that always seems to raise a blissfull smile?

If you do, please share it with all of us. This is your thread!!!

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, please read this:

After that, get a copy of this marvellous album and enjoy.....:D

I have the deluxe collector's edition of this on CD, with the extra disc and extra versions.

You can hear some of the Marshall + Les Paul sound that took over rock music over the next 10 years. But I actually can't stand the album, myself. Clapton's good, but...Sorry. Yes, flame suit on. :D

I agree. I've never been a real fan of the BBs. I like the "Cream era" Clapton a WHOLE lot better!:thumb:

That's where you really get to hear the [Marshall + LP, SG, 335, Firebird, Explorer] "woman tone".:D

Don't get me wrong. It was a good album for what it is (mostly covers), but not much else.

We cover, well mash the first track (all my love or something like that?) and ain't no sushine and it sounds awesome. For me anyway screw the audience lol. It's an ok record, but I'm not a massive organ fan (oo'er) or john mayall fan. I can't express my disapointment enough from when my wife rang me to tell me 'john Mayer is playing Liverpool!'. He wasn't. It was mayall.

I don't know if it sounds like Clapton on that album as I've never heard the album, but this rules and is my second most used pedal:

man, I've had this album since it was released. In mono. In November John Mayall played here. I had him sign the front of the album. Now it's hanging on the wall between my guitars.

This was one of two albums that I feel 'changed my life'. The other was the original Paul Butterfield Blues Band, the first time I heard Bloomfield. And yes, I still own it too.

I like Clapton's tone on many of these tracks, but that's about the most I can say.

I just picked up the vinyl of this. Some of my favorite Clapton tone. Would love to see him pick up a LP again.

I must admit Mayall's voice is weak but somehow in that album he managed to sound ok. Eric sung Ramblin' on my mind brilliantly, though.

I've got one question for you guys... Eric's guitar on many tracks had some sort of reverb added... do you know if it was added at mixdown or if they used an outboard reverb unit plugged between the guitar and amp? :hmm: sometimes when he hits the strings harder you can hear the reverb somehow springing at it too which might suggest that the reverb tank theory might be somehow true....
